I help individuals with issues such as self-esteem, anxiety, depression, anger, grief, trauma, codependency, relationship issues & others. I can also integrate your Christian faith if this is something you find helpful in therapy.

I have had the pleasure of working with 17-75 year-olds from various ethnicities, genders, & sexual identities for over 10 years on issues including grief, depression, anxiety, codependency, trauma, & self-worth.
There is nothing more rewarding for me than identifying the strengths in the individuals that I work with &, ultimately, witnessing their transformations. I have specialized training & experience in Cognitive Processing Therapy for trauma & grief therapy. If you are grieving, I know that you need to be heard & validated; you need someone willing to be with you in your pain, & who will not attempt to fix the unfixable.

Trauma can make you feel alone and misunderstood. You might feel like there is no one you can talk to because you don't want to cause them pain. You try to smile and carry on but this too has stopped working. Maybe you are angry, maybe you are afraid. I get that. Maybe you just want it all to stop and go back to the way it used to be. I get that too. Trauma can be a big event or reoccurring smaller events (micro-traumas). Even relationships can feel traumatic.

Let's not say "therapy," let's call it what it is - developing Emotional Intelligence. Emotional Intelligence is the key to a positive lifestyle. You are not born with Emotional Intelligence, nor does it come naturally. It is a skill that develops over time. Throughout our life, we are exposed to stress, adverse events and life-changing situations. These experiences add up, accumulate, get filed away in our minds; only to arise at the most inconvenient times, impacting our ability to function with everyday life. Having a strong Emotional Intelligence helps you manage and get your life back on track.

Life is a natural ebb and flow. However, when we get stuck in the ebb we can begin to develop patterns of being that do not serve our physical and emotional wellbeing; this can be a difficult place from which to emerge. The decision to seek guidance during these times is a bold act of self-compassion. We have incredible internal resources and an inherent capacity for healing. My role is to help guide clients back to connection with their authentic selves and others through the process of curious exploration, loving-kindness, and present moment awareness.

Maybe you’re at the end of your rope in your relationships, but you feel lost on how to break generational cycles and unhealthy patterns. Maybe you're seeking support in how to navigate life with neurodiversity in a neurotypical world. Maybe you’ve tried other therapists, but you just didn’t feel like they "got it." You’re looking for someone who speaks your language, a space where you don’t have to educate your therapist on the impact of Religious Trauma on your life. Maybe you're a parent seeking a safe, relatable space for your emerging adult to process their lives and build the tools they need to thrive in today's world.

Taking new clients. I am in network with Aetna, Cigna, and Optum/UHC. Only EAP through Optum, at this time. There is a major difference in 'feeling alone' and 'being alone'. Loneliness in the midst of crisis can feel suffocating, especially in our marriages and/or relationships. The counseling process can be a therapeutic alliance when all else feels lost and hopeless. Asking for help can be a very difficult process, but it is a vital first step towards healing and wellness. Let's partner up and journey together. Our motto is "Because no one should have journey alone".

Everyone struggles with life at times. Everyone. Sometimes we reach a point that we need some help to see a different perspective...to see our perspective in a different light. It is during these times we can choose to make positive changes in our thinking and behaviors. We do this in order to have positive changes in our emotional responses and the relationships we have with others. Our struggles with life are real. Sometimes though, these struggles can be tied to previous unresolved issues and events. The good news is, with courage, we can address both our current and any past issues, now, to help lessen life's struggles.

What therapy types help with codependency problems?
Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.
What happens in therapy for codependency?
Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.
How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?
Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.
What is the goal of therapy for codependency?
One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
