I utilize a combination of play, talk, and behavior therapy with children, adolescents, and families.
Seeking support requires plenty of courage, strength, and determination. Taking the first steps toward change can feel both invigorating and nerve-racking at the same time. I aim to create a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space for you to share your life experiences. One of our most fundamental human needs is to form connections, and I strive to utilize our therapeutic relationship as a guide for growth and healing. As a partner in your personal journey, I hope to empower you to gain the valuable insight and practical skills essential for overcoming obstacles, achieving your goals, and living a well-balanced, self-fulfilled life.

I am a cognitive-behavioral therapist.
Anxiety can be a debilitating condition. Fortunately, cognitive behavioral therapy has been proven to help people break free from anxiety's limitations. I work with individuals struggling with worry, indecisiveness, OCD, panic disorder, social anxiety, and generalized anxiety. I work collaboratively with people to set concrete goals and then systematically go about achieving them. My ideal client is someone who no longer wants anxiety to dictate their choices in life. My clients want the freedom and flexibility to make decisions based on values rather than fear.

I've been trained in the Process Model of psychotherapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Gottman Method Couples Therapy Level 1.
Are you feeling stuck or overwhelmed? Do you long for a greater sense of well-being and fulfillment in life? When our needs are unmet or injured, it can result in distorted thinking and ineffective behaviors. We may feel unable to move past anxiety, depression, grief, fear, despair, anger, or trauma, and move into self-protection, isolation, or avoidance in order to cope. By creating a nurturing, nonjudgmental environment where it's safe to express feelings and emotions, I believe that we will identify root issues and move beyond coping to restoration. Contact me for a FREE 15-minute phone consultation!

It takes a lot of courage to take that step forward and seek help. At some point, the pain of staying where you are can become overwhelming, and you're ready for something to change. You are not alone! I will work to hold a safe space for you and walk beside you as we explore both your strengths and your long-standing behavior and thought patterns that have supported you in the past but maybe aren't serving you anymore.

I am well versed in DBT (dialectical behavior therapy), and in my practice I offer an approach that equips parents with the skills needed to improve their relationships with their teens.
Welcome! It's easy to feel like there's a magic formula for parenting, and sadly, there isn't. I have spent the past 12 years working with teens and their families and appreciate the tremendous time and effort that comes with raising teens, especially teens who may require mental health support or higher levels of care.

The pandemic has left many of us feeling confused, angry, and anxious, as we grapple with processing the profound changes happening around us. Balancing work and life, self-esteem and purpose, socialization and isolation, family and relationship issues, transitions and adjustments, and loss and grief are just a few of the challenges we may face. I believe that how we handle stress and conflict today is influenced by our past relationships and experiences. Generational patterns and cultural factors shape our movements, speech, behavior, and responses in the world

I specialize in using a holistic approach that incorporates cognitive-behavioral therapy, emotionally focused therapy, mindfulness, and acceptance-based strategies.
Struggles in your relationship can be overwhelming and confusing where you're constantly arguing over small things and feel a growing distance as a couple. "How did things get to this point and how do I fix it?" I want you to know that I understand because I have been in your shoes. I know the pain and frustration that comes with feeling disconnected in a relationship

Behavioral Issues Therapists

What happens in therapy for behavioral issues?

No matter the type of therapy, individuals form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is often therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Individuals learn to identify situations that are especially troublesome for them and acquire new patterns of thinking and behaving. In therapy for ADHD, one of the most common behavior issues for children, individuals learn how to improve frustration tolerance, control impulsivity, manage attentional focus, and gain skills of self-organisation.

What therapy types help with behavioral issues?

Many types of therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Perhaps best-known and most widely tested is cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT), in which individuals learn new behavioral strategies and curb reactivity to frustrating or distressing situations that trigger disruptive behaviour. Anger, anxiety, mood disorders, impulse control problems are commonly addressed in CBT. Family therapy or parent management training is often helpful to reduce parent-child conflict and behavioral difficulties at home.

How long does therapy last for behavioral issues?

Among popular approaches to treating behavioral concerns, CBT is considered a short-term therapy intended to be administered in 15 to 20 weekly sessions. Parent training in behavior management, often used when the underlying cause of behavior issues is ADHD in children under 12, usually occurs in weekly sessions for 8 to 16 weeks. When behavioral issues stem from persistent aggression or defiance, therapy may last for months, and usually targets both children and their parents.

How effective is therapy for behavior issues?

Studies show that therapy for behavior issues in children is highly effective and may prevent the development of antisocial behavior later in life. Family intervention—parent management training or family therapy, both of which involve parents and children together—is considered most effective, notably for children under age 12 who persistently engage in aggressive, defiant, rule-breaking or other disruptive behavior. Whether provided alone or in combination with medication, CBT is highly effective in helping people regulate their emotions, and for people with ADHD, it addresses impulsiveness, hyperactivity and attentional focus.
