My hope is that my clients feel they can enter the therapy room as their authentic selves and that they feel an authentic person is also sitting in front of them.

I'm a licensed psychologist with a knack for helping folks embrace life's many uncertainties. Many of my clients are facing a crossroads when they begin therapy - embarking on parenthood, rethinking career choices; both craving and dreading a change. They are often struggling with anxiety in its many forms - panic, OCD, perfectionism, phobias, avoidance, etc. I see my role as that of a warm, authentic, and caring confidante. I also offer neurodiversity-affirming psychological assessments for adults exploring possible diagnoses or seeking better understanding of their emotional functioning and neurotype strengths and challenges.

I practice from a neurodiversity affirming, LGBTQ+ celebrating, trauma-informed and intersectional lens to help others feel validated in their unique experiences of the world while also providing them the tools to navigate modern society and relationships with an increased sense of self-compassion and empowerment and decreased sense of shame. I believe that our minds and hearts, like our bodies, possess an innate wisdom and ability to heal, given the right environment and structure. Sometimes we get stuck in old patterns and beliefs that helped us in the circumstances we learned them in, but need to be updated in order to allow us to fully embody our best, most authentic and empowered selves. In life, we experience different events, such as the recent pandemic, financial stress, overwhelming anxiety and pressure, the loss of a loved one, the unexpected divorce, a difficult birth, etc. and adjust the best we can, using our strengths and supports. We mostly do well. However, sometimes our coping strategies are insufficient to achieve our long term goals and heal our emotional and/or relationship wounds. You turn to others for support and guidance, such as family, friends, religious and ethnic community, and sometimes, you want to go deeper within yourself to seek out the answers.

I work with individuals who have experienced trauma and are seeking relief through an integrative, relational, and somatic approach. Drawing on somatic techniques such as EMDR and Somatic Experiencing, I support my clients in connecting to the felt sense of their bodies as a source of information. I believe that a gentle inquiry into the body’s felt sense allows us to safely integrate the past into the present and clarify what’s true for us in any given moment.

I work with adolescents and adults in individual and family settings. and couples seeking support in their relationship. I work with people seeking awareness on how to improve their life and support in achieving their goals. Together we will restore healthy lifestyle patterns and plan for future success. Teens, adults and couples often can suffer from the same depressive, anxious and traumatic experiences, but will need different support to heal.

Additional training from the Renfrew Center in the treatment of eating disorders provides a unique combination for helping young children and their families with eating issues or obesity. A dissertation on binge eating provides an understanding for those who have emotional eating problems. Experience with addiction and dual diagnosis was earned while working with Contra Costa County treatment programs. Other experience includes treating children and adults who have suffered from maltreatment, domestic violence, depression, grief, and or eating disorders.
