I'm a nurse/psychotherapist with over 45 years professional experience working with families, adults, and children. As a therapist I feel prepared to be your emotional advocate, and to assist you with the challenges you are facing. Building trust in the therapeutic relationship in a non-judgmental, respectful environment is essential. I believe every client situation is unique. I combine an eclectic theoretical approach with professional experience in order to assess, set goals, and implement a treatment plan that is specific to your needs.
Working with adolescents and young adults who are struggling with identity formation and the challenges of becoming independent is an area of specialization. This work often involves parents and other family members as part of the therapy. Women's mental health and couples counseling are also areas that are an important part of my practice.
Having worked as a nurse in obstetrics, labor and delivery and being a certified specialist in postpartum depression and anxiety, I am uniquely equipped to work with mothers experiencing these problems. With age comes experience and wisdom (I hope), therefore I strive to come from a place of understanding and empathy when working with clients.
