I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, bilingual in English and Spanish languages. I have been an active participant in the mental health field for approximately 17 years and hold a specialty in the area of trauma and abuse. My work emphasis has been primarily with the children, birth to 17 years of age, and their corresponding family. I have worked with kids and their families for over 25 years. My favorite children and teens are strong willed, capable, and smart (academic and/or common sense). I see kids ranging from 3 year old to college students. Some of the most common issues that I work with are ADD/ADHD, Oppositional/Defiant, Depression, Anxiety and Bipolar Disorders. Other general issues are poor social skills, difficulty with frustration, poor communication skills and parent-child conflict. Because so many of the families that I see are struggling with how get along easily, I prefer to include parents whenever possible.

Hi, I’m Cynthia. Welcome to Desert Somatics & Psychotherapy. In this practice, I endeavor to create a safe, healing space for people to work with the most vulnerable parts of themselves. When you are facing anxiety, depression, burnout, overwhelm, grief and loss, or the residual effects of traumatic situations or experiences, it can feel insurmountable. My passion is helping people to take the big, scary events, feelings, thoughts, and life experiences they are facing and to break them down into manageable pieces we can work through together. Youth and adults who come to me often struggle with social-emotional and behavioral issues affecting academic progress, job functioning, peer/family relationships and self-image. These issues are often rooted in family conflict, identity confusion and trauma and can lead to more serious issues of anxiety and depression.
