Welcome! I’m a queer and neurodivergent therapist who is passionate about supporting members of my communities (and beyond) in finding healing and transformation. I’m not here to ‘fix’ you, because somewhere within you, you're already whole. What I am here for is supporting and guiding you toward (re)connecting with your wholeness, healing the trauma stored in your body, and freeing yourself from painful patterns. Together we can navigate the tender areas of Autism, ADHD, trauma, identity, oppression, anxiety, depression, burnout, and much more.

I specialize in working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities including autism, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and ADHD. I work with both children and adults, providing evaluations from a neuro-positive perspective. Note: I continue to provide autism and ADHD evaluations for most ages, but I keep the therapy portion of my practice very limited. Because of the limited number of providers working with adults on the spectrum, I am still accepting adult therapy clients with a previous diagnosis of autism.

HelloI'm a therapist with specialized training in the treatment of Anxiety, Depression, Adult ADHD, Autism Spectrum disorder, Trauma, and PTSD. I value a creative approach to wellness that honors safety, authenticity, and honesty. I think of starting therapy like you're cleaning out a closet that you've been storing things in for years. You've been putting things in there for so long that perhaps you've forgotten what was even in there. Together we'll sort through clutter, deciding what you need, getting rid of what you don't, and building structures to organize the parts of life that need organizing.

It’s hard being a human! And sometimes we need help figuring things out. Each of us desires contentment and fulfillment in our lives, but it's hard to access when we don't know what we don't know: what's really in the way?, and why does it keep showing up?what can I DO about this situation?, and who am I? These questions become increasingly loud during major life events, such as divorce, death, marriage, a career change, etc. We ALL experience this pain and confusion, but the good news is, you're not alone.

Overwhelm washes over you when the world feels confusing and chaotic. Life challenges begin stacking up and complexity becomes too much. You can see your patterns but have no idea how to free yourself. You tried talk therapy and it helped a little but something is still missing. You know there's got to be something different out there.

My goal is to create the space for you to connect with your own innate wisdom and healing intelligence. I will meet you where you are with presence, empathy, and non-judgment. Using mindfulness and somatic techniques we will examine and remain grounded in the present and then work backward to untangle how difficult or traumatic experiences of the past may be keeping you “stuck” in unhealthy thinking or behavioral patterns. I will act as an unwavering guide as you move toward freedom and growth.

Forrest has sat with elders in their dying process, helped chauffeur young adults through the existential turmoil, and attended to the many others needs for compassion, authenticity, and simple humanity that many of us long for. In 2008, Forrest deployed to Iraq and witnessed first hand an incredible amount of suffering. This helped to awaken Forrest's heart to the dire need of care, compassion, and human kindness. Later, Forrest would go on to organize community events for homelessness, humanitarian crisis, healing through the arts and mindfulness practices. Forrest continues to strive toward a world of caring compassion for all.

The most important element of therapy is the relationship between the therapist and client. Healing happens when trust is built and clients feel comfortable being themselves without fear of judgement. I work hard to get to know my clients and base my approach on what works best for each one. A successful therapist is an adaptable therapist. Successful therapy happens when clients feel fully seen, heard, and understood.

Welcome! Finding a therapist can be a vulnerable and challenging task, I’m glad you're here. I work with folks looking to create new patterns, behaviors, and grow deeper connections with themselves. Are you someone who overthinks, analyzes, or is constantly stuck in your head? Have you been told in the past that you are “too sensitive” or things are “not that big of a deal”? Perhaps you have felt misunderstood or invalidated by those around you, causing you to isolate or retreat to your thoughts. If you're struggling with a harsh inner critic and seeking to move towards more self compassion, we may be a good fit.

Autism Therapists

What is the most effective treatment for autism?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) has come to be considered the standard treatment for children with autism spectrum disorder, and research has confirmed its effectiveness for many children. Therapists trained in ABA techniques work with children (and their parents) on developing social skills, communication and learning abilities, and everyday habits of hygiene and grooming. The clinician will tailor their program to the child’s particular need but the overarching goal will be to help them advance as far as possible toward independence based on their level of symptoms and decrease the need for additional special services. Families should seek a mental health professional specifically trained in ABA, and holding special certification in the technique, who has extensive experience not only with the approach but in using it with children with the same level of symptoms as the child who needs care.

How does ABA work?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) sessions, which typically focus on positive reinforcement, can be intensive, lasting two or more hours several times a week, and continuing for two years or more. Therapists can also be expected to ask parents to take an active role in reinforcing lessons. Research has found that the technique can lead to major improvements that decrease the need for additional special services.

How does treatment for autism work?

Therapy sessions based on Applied Behavior Analysis will likely be frequent, intensive, and highly structured. After a thorough assessment, a therapist will help a child understand and develop skills in a range of areas, including communication, motor skills, social skills, self-care, play, and academic skills, as well as routines of daily living like hygiene. Typically, the therapist will help a child break down the components of a behavior—often referred to as the antecedent (what prompts an action), the behavior, and the consequence(what immediately follows)—and then reward the child at every step, while also asking parents to reinforce the lessons, and the rewards, throughout the day. This core therapy may be supplemented by occupational or speech therapy, and antidepressants, antipsychotics, and anticonvulsants may be prescribed to address specific severe symptoms.

How long does therapy for autism take?

Some people with autism spectrum disorder may be engaged in some level of therapy for many years, but research shows that treatment will be most effective if it is begun early and delivered intensively. When therapy begins by age 3, children tend to be better able to grasp and adopt the skills needed to manage everyday life, including attending school and establishing social relationships. This type of early-intervention treatment regimen is highly structured, typically involving 20 to 40 hours of one-on-one therapy per week, along with additional hours of engagement managed by parents, for a period of two years or more, although the duration of treatment is dependent on the child’s level of symptoms and pace of progress.
