Do terapii podchodzę z prawdziwym i serdecznym współczuciem dla Twojego dobrego samopoczucia. Moje zaangażowanie w zrozumienie Twoich zmagań i emocji, bez oceniania, stanowi podstawę naszej relacji terapeutycznej. Jestem nią, aby słuchać, wspierać i potwierdzać Twoje doświadczenia.

My name is Agnieszka Baklazec and I along with three other therapists in my practice along with two prescribers are here for you. We believe that some of life events are traumatic enough and difficult enough that we lose sight of who we truly are as people. We believe therapy can help us get to that beautiful state when, even the imperfections, make up for a beautiful human being each of us is. We also believe that therapy should be affordable and accessible, therefore, we have the ability to offer sliding scale. This option is usually ideal for someone who does not have insurance or chooses not to utilize it.

Has your world been turned upside down after learning of your partner's secret romantic or sexual experiences? Do you feel furious, devastated, numb and confused all at the same time? One moment you feel love and the next extreme anger, one moment you're screaming and the next you're crying, one moment you're determined to leave and the next wondering if you can forgive? Or perhaps you've been dealing with this for a while and you feel stuck; you still can't trust or forgive, can't stop thinking about what happened, and worry about it happening again? I understand how you feel and am so deeply sorry that you're going through this.

Welcome! I am glad you are here, as it indicates you are exploring what might be possible. I believe that each person has the capacity for a deeply meaningful and fulfilling life, walking their path towards growth and their own unique potential. Painful experiences and challenges may leave us feeling immobilized and if they become our focus we may struggle to employ our strengths and resources. My role as your therapist, and a fellow traveller, is to help you remove those obstacles from your path, tap into your own inner wisdom and harness your strength, so that you can keep moving forward towards meaning and purpose.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
