I believe it is important to find the right therapist so you feel like you can be yourself and talk about the challenges you are facing. An essential part of my practice is to build rapport with my clients, so they feel comfortable talking about their problems and the hurtful issues they’ve experienced. I have enjoyed assisting individuals from multiple cultural, educational, gender, spirituality, and socioeconomic backgrounds who have experienced challenges with trauma, grief, anxiety, social identities, life transitions, sleep disturbances, mental health, health issues, adult children of alcoholics/addicts, & DV survivors.

We all have our own negative stories that we tell or have about ourselves. You come to counseling to learn how to sit in joy and happiness. You don't come to counseling to learn about how to be depressed, anxious, or how to talk about yourself in a negative way. I value the therapeutic relationship, and together we will build a safe place, as I believe this is one of the key components to become the best version of yourself. In our time together, my goal and my hope is to assist you to re-author your story and learn how to sit in happiness versus the negative messages you tell yourself.

Many of my clients have histories of, sexual abuse, physical abuse, verbal/emotional abuse, depression, anxiety, PTSD, panic disorder, domestic violence, relationship issues, and career confusion.
Now accepting clients! Tricare Medicaid and many more (please see below)! Are you tired of your past creating your present? Done with anxiety and panic attacks and avoiding all people and things that "trigger" you. Feeling better is not as easy as just changing how you think- if it was we would not get stuck like we do. My work with individuals takes time and is all client-driven- there is no push to work on any one topic. I have found that comfortable conversation and creating a strong and safe relationship at the beginning of treatment leads to some of the best and most successful therapeutic work.

Sometimes, we find ourselves buried under challenging life circumstances. When this happens, we are left with three options: remain stuck and undecided, fight through, wounded and bitter, or emerge stronger, wiser and more resilient. I love coming alongside clients who feel they are without hope, and helping them find their inner strengths to emerge resilient. I have experience working with trauma, grief, PTSD, pain management, postpartum depression, chronic medical conditions, OCD, substance use, ADHD, depression, anxiety, bi-polar, and marriage and family issues.

Modern life can leave us stressed out, disconnected from each other, and disconnected from ourselves. Human beings have an incredible capacity for adaptation and growth. I believe that therapy is an effective way to tap into the resiliency for which we are all capable. Everyone experiences life’s up and downs, which can include trauma, difficulty adjusting, trouble in interpersonal relationships, mood regulation, self-destructive behaviors, anxiety, depression, and many others.

Everyone seeks out counseling for different reasons. Perhaps they have anxiety, an addiction, or problems in an intimate relationship. Some folks are looking for assistance as they learn what effective communication and healthy boundaries look like. Others have a desire to heal deep emotional wounds from the past and learn how to let go. Everyone has a different story; whether we're processing or problem-solving, I'm in your corner.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
