I have worked in the mental health field for 40+ years. During my career I have worked with a variety of patients including adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I have treated trauma exposure, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, mild autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit disorder (and related issues). I have also provided support for individuals in recovery. I'm Katy Bridges and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). It is my passion to work with children, adolescents, and young adults. Emotional turmoil negatively impacts our daily lives. Often, young people struggle to perform, feel down on themselves, have behavior problems, or can't manage big emotions like fear and sadness. Anxiety, grief, conflict at home, social problems, and extracurricular commitments are other stressors children have to manage. This can lead to poor quality of life, behavior problems, distractions at school, etc. Growing up is HARD work! Young people are strong and can thrive with the right tools!

My approach to therapy utilizes an integrative blend of counseling theory to provide specialized services to a wide variety of patients and patient issues. My speciality is working with individuals struggling with emotional regulation issues that are interfering with their professional and personal lives. Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy are my theoretical orientations. I am a certified DBT therapist. I am also a supervising counselor in Alabama and have extensive experience in providing supervision to individuals seeking state sanctioned licensure as a licensed professional counselor.
