Most agree that the first priority of a parent is to keep their child safe. When a teenager is taking risks that negatively impacts his or her life, and outpatient counseling has failed, the intervention of a residential treatment program may be the best course of action. Since 2006, Elk River Treatment Program (ERTP) has provided evidence-based therapeutic treatment for boys and girls ages 12 - 18. Our typical client may be struggling with one or more of the following: depression, anxiety, maladaptive behaviors, declining grades, poor peer choices, grief/loss, adoption issues, mental illness and/or dependency on alcohol or substances. We utilize a multidisciplinary treatment team to evaluate, assess and develop an individualized treatment plan to meet the needs of each client. ERTP is licensed by the State of Alabama Department of Youth Services and is accredited in Behavioral Health Care by The Joint Commission. Clients in grades 6 - 12 attend an accredited, college-prep school on site and are supported by Highly Qualified and State Certified Teachers.

IOP Services provides intensive group therapy to adults. We are the only independent, clinician owned mental health IOP in Alabama . We do not provide care to individuals whose primary current problem is a substance use disorder. There are many other options for their care. IOP provides intensive therapy 3 hours per day, 3 days per week. Group therapy is the foundation of IOP. Group has been well established as an effective treatment approach for 80 years. The interpersonal experience of group is supplemented and enriched with instructional material, psychiatric education and a variety of evidence based approaches. Most clients continue their regular individual therapy schedule while in IOP. Enrollment is not determined by a diagnosis but rather by how problems are interfering in your life. We offer in person treatment in Birmingham and Madison, Alabama. We currently offer morning (9am-12pm) and afternoon groups (1pm-4pm) sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The Psychological Clinic is the training facility operated by the Psychology Department of the University of South Alabama. The mission of the Psychological Clinic is to provide professional, low cost mental health services to the Mobile community. In the clinic, Clinical and Counseling PhD students receive supervised experience while providing psychological services. We endorse a scientist-practitioner model, use formulations based on both the bio-psycho-social model and wellness/resilience model, and train in evidence-based practices. We provide individual, family, couples/marital, group, and parent-child interaction (PCIT) therapies. We also provide assessments for the following: Autism Spectrum Disorder Evaluations, Psychoeducational Evaluations for Learning and Attentional Disorders (LD/ADHD), Neuropsychological Evaluations, Gifted & Talented Evaluations, Psychological Evaluations, and School or Family Observations. Some psychological services are provided directly by licensed Clinical and Counseling Psychologists. Because we are a training clinic, we can provide patients/clients with professional, confidential psychological services based on a reduced-cost sliding fee scale. Magnolia Creek Treatment Center for Eating Disorders treats women (18 years or older) who struggle with feeding or eating disorders, such as: anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, other specified eating disorder, rumination disorder, pica, avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder, and/or unspecified eating disorder, and other disorders such as: mood disorders, substance use disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, attachment disorder, dissociative disorders, and/or personality disorders. Additionally, at Magnolia Creek, we believe spirituality plays a role in the care and treatment of eating disorders and/or co-occurring mental health conditions. We welcome ALL faiths and beliefs at Magnolia Creek, and for those who desire, we have created a Christian Pathway for the journey to recovery.
