You grew up in dysfunction or had a chaotic childhood. You are struggling with codependency or enmeshment. You're a new parent terrified that you're going to traumatize your kids. You were diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, now what? I use an insight-oriented approach, which helps clients understand how past experiences can affect their current behavior. However, therapy is not "one size fits all" and we will pull from different treatment modalities to meet your individual needs.

Whether you’re struggling with everyday stress, anxiety, burnout, depression or ADHD, change starts with taking positive, actionable steps toward creating the life you want.
Therapy is a valuable opportunity to talk through and understand all the stress, anxiety, and burnout that come with day-to-day life. When life can't change, you can only change yourself and how you respond. Talking it out is often the first step to figuring it out. I help clients change their thoughts and behaviors to reduce stress and anxiety and move closer to being in alignment with their true selves.

As someone who has struggled with social anxiety in the past and has been diagnosed with ADHD, I know what it's like to sit on your side of the therapy room.
Do you find yourself struggling to connect with others? Do you find that anxiety, fear of judgement from others or symptoms of ADHD prevents you from meeting new people, creating deeper connections with acquaintances, finding a romantic partner, speaking your mind or attending social events altogether? Is it hard to show your real self in social situations or at work, so you "mask" or hide that part of yourself, because you find it difficult to accept who you are and criticize yourself often? Well, this doesn't have to be your experience forever.

We specialize in testing ADHD in adults and providing targeted, effective therapy.
Do you find it so difficult to focus that it interferes with your work, school, or relationships? Do you become easily distracted and have difficulties being productive? Is it hard to remain organized despite your best efforts? Inattention, impulsivity, and overactivity are three common problems associated with ADHD, which affects about 5% of people. It is much more serious than just having trouble concentrating. ADHD creates significant difficulties, presents barriers to success at work or school, and strains relationships between people with ADHD and those who care about them.

I have worked with a diverse population of clients by factors such as age, socioeconomic status, and ethnic groups that have dealt with varying challenges such as trauma, anxiety, depression, parent/child conflicts, grief, mood & behavior disorders, PTSD, and ADD/ ADHD.
My main focus has been to empower clients to reach a higher level of self-sufficiency and healing through supportive practices. Understanding that the world in which we live, how we function, and the resources available to us determines the perspective and navigation in which one has. I approach things through a holistic( mind, body, soul) lens as people cannot function as their best self in fragmented pieces. I am looking to serve individuals who have difficulty with coping through life stressors, while being open to the possibilities of transformative solutions.

Anxiety, again, don’t you ever take a break? Of course you don’t. Before work, at work, after work. Intense anxiety is hard. I get it, I’ve been there. It’s difficult to feel like you’re constantly pushing through each day, just trying to survive. Making matters worse, there’s no energy left to actually find a better way to live. If you're honest, sometimes It’s hard to believe that a path out of survival mode exists at all. Facing a challenge like anxiety alone is overwhelming.

The crux of my approach is simple, but versatile: I use anything and everything available to make breakthroughs possible. We all do better with an expansive toolkit. EMDR for "stuckness" / trauma and Gottman methods for couples to repair & connect. (Well worth YouTubing either for a sense of them.) Once we understand each other and you are insight-equipped, we'll put insight into action. But in ways that feel authentic to your personal experience of things. Clients often report that my approachable, humorous, "very human" style makes therapy a much more effective experience even when exploring difficult content.

My multicultural background, experiences as a woman of color, and identity as a first-generation immigrant from India have shaped my journey as a psychotherapist. Growing up in a collectivistic and patriarchal society, I often felt unheard, navigating microaggressions and a lack of autonomy. This gives me a unique understanding of how systems of oppression can affect one’s sense of self, and I integrate cultural awareness into my work to help clients break free from feeling unseen and unheard, my focus is on establishing and nurturing client-centered, one-to-one relationships.

I became a clinician for a myriad of reasons, one being that I understand the desire to search for identity. As a queer, genderfluid individual who uses she/they pronouns, this search reflects in my work to help others who are searching for insight into themselves. I acknowledge that others are the experts in their own lives and that I am a therapeutic conduit toward insight, healing, and empowerment. I am dedicated to working with those in marginalized communities, particularly those who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
