Regardless of what you say or do, I provide the comfort and acceptance for you to express your thoughts and feelings without judgment. I develop a personal plan of focus geared specifically to what you want out of counseling. I also believe by building a strong therapeutic relationship with my client, it allows meaningful and effective therapy - this is the foundation for the healing process.

Seen as pillars of society, as a physician you may feel you have no one to turn to right now. The pre-pandemic statistics are especially upsetting: 29% of resident physicians experienced depression; 16% of emergency physicians met the criteria for a post-traumatic stress disorder diagnosis, & doctors have a higher risk of death by suicide compared to other professions. We stand to lose 1 doctor a day to suicide. The pandemic has been especially challenging for physicians, their families, & the medical community in general: doctors are experiencing burnout from new challenges they are encountering. Burnout is not a ride of passage.

Every individual comes with a community and a cultural identification existing within the context of greater society. Through an emotion focused/ family systems lens, I enjoy listening to and collaborating with individuals, couples, and families to therapeutically address each of these layers. Together, we focus on gaining greater awareness of emotions and the relationship to self and others, integrating the different parts of self we all experience, and connecting to natural supports that exist within our environments.

Healing is possible. There have been times in my own life when it felt impossible to experience the life I was meant to live, the joy we are meant to experience, spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical health. If you are there right now, or you feel like you are chained to your past and patterns that keep you from moving forward into hope, peace, and joy, you can overcome. I would love to partner with you on your journey forward.

Emily Jackson is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington who has been practicing since 2018. She has a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Northwest University. Emily's philosophy for therapy is collaborative and holistic. She feels therapy is a space where one can come to be fully seen, known, and accepted, but also challenged in a way that is a catalyst for growth and change to improve how they feel in relation to themselves, others, and life itself. To Emily, therapy requires a willingness to do the courageous and often difficult work to achieve change in regard to one's particular suffering.
