I have been a psychologist for over 50 years. I earned a B.A. in psychology from Northwestern University in 1967 and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of Colorado in 1972. I taught, conducted research and treated patients at Vanderbilt University, where I collaborated with Dr. Hans Strupp, a pioneer in the study of the effectiveness of psychotherapy. I published over 100 scientific articles on the process and outcome of therapy and the influence of sex and race biases in diagnosis and treatment.

I specialize in working with individual adults and adolescents. I have over 20 years of experience providing support to clients looking to resolve challenges and intentionally create the lives and relationships they want. My goal is to provide a warm, understanding, and nonjudgmental environment where my clients can heal and grow. I use a straightforward, practical and solution-focused approach to help clients resolve current problems as well as long-standing patterns.

Life can change in an instant. What was once predictable, safe, and familiar is gone and we are left with the unknown. Life transitions, both big and small, require support. Some are easily manageable while others cause us to forget who we once were. In my practice I focus on working together to again find equilibrium. Sometimes we can't be who we once were but it absolutely does not mean we cannot discover who we are now or who we want to be in the future.

Results are achieved in a collaberative atmosphere of emotional safety, trust and unconditional acceptance that leads to understanding and healing. Changes brought about by this treatment are not meant to be temporary, but tend to be permanent. I work with adults, adolescents and couples who seek to resolve conflicts, stop repetitive dysfunctional patterns and develop deep emotional connections.
