I work with adults and couples from a relational and insight orientation. Because every person is unique, I tailor an approach to each client’s immediate and long-term life goals. I work with clients to help them develop autonomy and self-worth, to improve relationships, and to love, work, and play more freely. I practiced as a litigator for 13 years at a large global law firm and bring an informed perspective to treatment.

Do you feel overwhelmed by current challenges? Are you plagued with shame, guilt, resentment or fear related to the past? Anxiety and depression, destructive coping behaviors, and unresolvable intimacy issues all reflect something of our struggle to love and be loved. When our need for tools to manage the difficulties of life weren't adequately met in early childhood, disordered states and destructive patterns help us cope with unaddressed emotions. You don't need to continue suffering alone. I provide a supportive, collaborative, non-judgmental space for healing and growth.

There are many pressures from society to perform a certain way, to achieve certain things by particular time frames, and to think like the group. But what if we don't? Does that mean we can't be a part of society? We all feel lonely and marooned on weirdo island sometimes. Truly understanding ourselves and how we want to live our lives can sometimes feel like a far-fetched fantasy. However, figuring out who we are isn't something that we have to do alone.

You don't like your current state. You don't like your mood swings, you don't like your insecurity, you don't like that you feel stuck both physically and emotionally now in this pandemic. The world is changing so rapidly and everything is different. You know you're not the only one who's struggling and you want to be more positive, yet it still feels like you're the only one who’s out of place, left behind, and failing. You want to stop feeling this way, you want to change.

Welcome, and congratulations on taking the first step toward creating change. My motto is "Travel light, live light, spread the light, be the light." This can only be accomplished by shedding burdens that weigh you down. I aim to create a compassionate and nurturing environment for personal exploration and healing. I enjoy working with clients who may be apprehensive of mental health services or have had negative experiences with therapy in the past.

We are a result of every single experience in life, good or bad. Over the course of a lifetime, we developed habits and perspectives that helped us to cope with suffering. However, when those old methods no longer serve, it is time to let another person to walk alongside in order to examine and discover new ways for dealing with life's challenges. I offer a safe, nonjudgmental and empathetic environment that fosters self reflection in order to encourage personal transformation and learning what works for you. Taking the first step might be difficult, but you will be glad you did it. Hablo Espa˜ñol.

We are at a time where compassion towards self is more important than ever. Life is overwhelming and complicated. Maybe you "have it all" but feel like something is missing or you are having issues communicating your needs. Many struggle with the idea of having symptoms of depression and anxiety internalizing the symptoms with being "crazy". I am here to remove the labels and have individuals be more aware of the symptoms you experience (fear, poor sleep and appetite, nervousness, sadness, negative thoughts, etc.) and treat them with compassion, reframing and safe coping skills to better improve your life.

You're a highly sensitive, creative, and empathic person who is ready to heal. You dream of an integrated life where your emotions, intuition, and spirit coexist. A life where healthy relationships flourish and the trauma of your past is finally laid to rest. You may feel exhausted by the pain of your childhood, old relationships, and even current circumstances. In turn, this has created a hunger for a safe space where you can show up as your full self. Welcome. You're home.

You’re drowning. The waves of life are crashing down hard and they just keep coming. You thought things would be different by now. That you’d be happy, confident, and content with life, but instead you’re struggling. Struggling to find motivation to face the day, to have time and energy to put into your relationships and family, and feeling like nothing you do is ever good enough.

Your story deeply matters to me. I provide relational, integrative, and sex-positive therapy to queer and BIPOC clients. I love working with individuals of all ages who are open-minded, willing and interested in cultivating a meaningful life. I recognize how challenging it can be to remain willing and curious when the world and life as we've known it continues to rapidly change. One of my primary goals is to support clients to feel more moments of contentment and safety so that they are able to imagine the possibilities in front of and ahead of them. It IS possible to feel better and suffer less; and for life to look and feel different than it does right now.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
