My specialties are in treating PTSD, complex trauma, anxiety disorders, and OCD.
Life has been pretty weird for awhile, hasn't it? We're all navigating such an unusual time, from post-COVID life to terrifying politics to the high cost of living. These stresses affect us and can lead to anxiety and mood changes that interrupt our ability to live fully. Many of us have experienced traumas that affect how we see ourselves and others in our lives. They can cause us to push people away, or even keep people in our lives that are unhealthy for us. Further still, some of us might even struggle with intrusive and unwanted thoughts and images that are disturbing, and seem impossible to control. This is where I can help.

I practice Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and trauma-informed psychoeducation emphasizing the somatic connections between your mind and body.
The counseling relationship has proven to be a key factor in positive therapeutic outcomes. Whether you are dealing with an acute event or an ongoing issue, a healthy connection with your counselor helps you heal and practice new things in a safe space. As your counselor I will foster that connection through a 'person-centered' approach, which means that you are the center of the sessions, not my 'therapeutic knowledge.' We work as a team exploring your goals, thoughts, and behaviors. We boost your awareness and understanding of emotional & body-based patterns, and do it all with tools that work for you.

The adolescents, adults, seniors, couples, and families who benefit most from my services are interested in learning about themselves - what they like and don't like, what motivates them, what they believe about themselves and others, and what they want their lives and relationships to be like. The issues people typically ask for my help with include: anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, personality issues, self-esteem, identity, substance use problems, compulsive behaviors (eating, gambling, sexual, etc), occupational/academic issues, relationship challenges, and life transitions. My clients achieve self acceptance and satisfaction by learning to make choices that are consistent with their values, needs, and goals.

If you find yourself experiencing things like ADHD, anxiety, depression, or PTSD, I can help you ease your symptoms or even help you heal them.
Do you find yourself confused and depressed, or struggling with fear and anxiety? Perhaps you find that your past won't let you live in the present or that life is slipping by and satisfaction seems out of reach. Life can throw a thousand obstacles in your path, but at the end of the day, it's your own mind that has to navigate the ups and downs and make some sort of peace and joy out of this unpredictable experience we call life. Unfortunately, most people aren't taught to take care of, or even pay attention to, their own minds. That's where therapy can help.

Sometimes life presents us with challenges that we never dreamed of facing, or it seems that all of a sudden, those who we thought would always be there for us are not. Sometimes we feel as though there is something greater that we should be doing with our lives. Intrinsically, you have the answers; sometimes you just need help in getting to them. Perhaps it's time to allow yourself to find your way back home - to your authentic Self.

Life can be rough. If you're a parent of an ADHD teenager, do you really think that nagging more will change his behavior? Or maybe you're struggling to find meaning in your life, wondering about your role as a man in today's world, as a husband, as a father. Or maybe you're just so tired of being anxious and depressed...Or now that you're sober, perhaps you want to deepen and develop your recovery from addiction?

Within every one of us lies the potential and wisdom to live as joyfully and fulfilled as possible. While we cannot change the past and in some situations current stressors, we can develop strengths, strategies, and insight to better manage our responses in the present and future. As a strength-based, solution-focused provider, it is my purpose to help you gain awareness and control of thoughts, feelings, and possibly actions that prevent you from living the life you seek. Through culturally sensitive, compassionate, client-centered care, I will help you identify and reach your goals regardless of what they may be.

"Two people getting to know each other and dealing with what comes up along the way" is one way I think about therapy. Some people seek psychotherapy because of an issue that is clearly about a relationship or relationships in general-for example, a breakup, trouble initiating relationships, or problems with coworkers or bosses. Even if your main concern seems to be just about you-for example, you are depressed or have low self-esteem-your relationships with others, including me, become an important part of therapy. Do you believe others have the same opinion of you that you do?

Seeking psychotherapy services can often seem daunting, but you've taken the first step on your healing journey. It is important that on your journey you feel accepted and understood. I hope I can be that compassionate person you're looking for to assist you along the way.

Helping you find your path, your purpose, and access to your closest desires is the focus of my treatment approach. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, or substance misuse, I believe that these challenges do not need to be confronted alone. In our work together, we will uncover the beliefs, old ideas, and problem stories that isolate you, and keep you from the life we would prefer to be living. In identifying and breaking the unconscious patterns that are influencing you, we will bring forward your personal agency, inviting the choice to thrive rather than survive.
