I have several years of experience teaching parenting classes, social skills groups, DBT and anger management groups.
Distressing and traumatic experiences can leave us feeling confused, alone and emotionally disconnected. As a trauma informed therapist I assist individuals in confronting, making sense of and resolving past, traumatic experiences. I help my clients connect present day unhelpful behaviors, beliefs and attitudes to unresolved, lived experiences. I have 15 years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents and adults. My areas of expertise include: trauma, anxiety and depressive disorders, maternal mental health (i.e. postpartum depression), grief and loss and issues of self-esteem.

Your relationship is being torn away from you. You ask yourself, " How did we drift so far apart?" Yearning to find the love, intimacy and closeness you had both known almost feels foreign, but the desire to try all within your power keeps compelling you to move forward. You want the mending, intimacy and healing to start now. Just to be seen and understood would be amazing!

Life is a rollercoaster for everyone, which means adjustments are inevitable, whether it is big or small, good or bad, fortunate or devastating. As an Asian migrant in Utah myself, I understand the struggles when we have to adapt to any sort of significant adjustment or change, especially grief and loss. I strive to provide a safe space for clients to find the inner strength to process and find meaning from the storm. I am a firm believer of genuine connection and empathy as keys towards recovery. As a therapist, I see my role as your teammate to accomplish any goals you have in mind for a better outcome at the end of the tunnel.

I like to come at therapy kind of like I would a drummer at a jam session. I'm there to find a groove with another voice. I want to communicate with you and help you to open up and learn to express yourself. We will seek understanding first and then we will find a way to encourage healing and growth that is unique to you and builds a stronger identity. I am strengths-based and I like to find existing skills to help a client build a new way of thinking and interacting with their body. This is also a very effective way of beginning the process of healing symptoms of PTSD in conjunction with other evidence based trauma treatments.

I grew up in Mongolia where vulnerability was viewed as a sign of weakness in the community. Due to the culture, I had been trained to suppress my feelings throughout my life. I suffered silently when I had anxiety, depression, and traumas in my family of origin. I know how hard it is when nobody understands you, feeling numb while feeling a lot of emotions, and struggling to forgive while loving loved ones. However, I was lucky to find the right therapist who cared, cried, and helped me deeply. Therapy helped me to empower myself and bring change in my life.

Sometimes, we just need a reminder that we can change and overcome obstacles to grow; it is possible because I have seen it. I will make sure you feel that by instilling a lot of hope. Through my education and experience, I have found that connection heals, and I will help you gather the needed tools to get the connection you need in your life. I love working with individuals who are ready and willing to try. Let me show you it is possible by removing those barriers, whether they are behaviors or attitudes that are in the way of you reaching your potential and living a meaningful life.

Young adulthood is an exciting time, but it can also be an overwhelming experience. Many young adults experience social anxiety as they focus on new friendships and dating. Others stress about surviving college or committing to a career path. Faith issues become a source of concern for some. For those who are married or in a relationship, connecting with another person emotionally and intimately can be a struggle. Creating a new identity as a young adult can also reawaken old problems from past abuse/traumas, depression, self-damaging behaviors, and scrupulosity/OCD.

Hi! I'm Max. First off, I love my job. I love getting to know people, listening, supporting, teaching, and guiding them on their path of healing and success. I see therapy as an opportunity to slow down the frantic pace of life and explore ways to cope, regain control of life's challenges, increase self-worth, and rebuild or enrich relationships.

Most people would rather hide from change than embrace it. When we do, unseen opportunities aren’t realized. We encourage our clients to focus on positive change- more on strengths than on weaknesses, the solution instead of the problem.

Are you struggling with feelings of anxiety, depression, sadness, or low self-esteem? These feelings are often linked to past events that keep us looping in our lives. EMDR therapy can help you reprocess through those memories and emotions that have left you feeling stuck and overwhelmed. Many times we feel like we understand logically how we want to feel, but our bodies don't seem to agree. EMDR can help bring your body and brain into alignment.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
