Adolescence and early adulthood holds a special place in my heart, because it is such ripe ground for discovery, yet many young people get stuck along the journey. I have worked with young people for over 10 years, who have struggled with social-anxiety and shyness, addiction, anxiety and panic attacks, depression, grief and loss issues, trauma, school issues, and complex family issues. While all of these can be horrific for the individual and families involved, the underlying resiliency present in each of these young people and families is the foundation that we build from in the healing process.

Here at Whole Connection, we believe that a healing relationship is the most important part of therapy. This connection allows each client to safely explore and create the changes and healing they are striving for. Our therapists support clients working with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, grief, identity exploration, and a variety of other challenges that can arise in everyday life. We often work individually, with couples, or in a group setting to help our clients build the skills they need to work through and remain resilient in difficult times.

As a therapist I am passionate about what I do. I am here to create transformative and life-changing experiences with you and in your relationships. Therapy will facilitate self-discovery, new awareness and insights, while specific strategies will lead to personal growth and rewiring of the brain and nervous system. You will feel seen and heard and experience the security that is inherent within this confidential relationship. I work with adults dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, substance use, addiction, ADHD, shame, and grief/loss.

The desire to be connected to others is innate, and yet we sometimes find ourselves alone, hopeless, sad, scared, and angry. I believe that being connected to ourselves and others is part of the human experience, and recovery from symptoms that interrupt our ability to live our lives to the fullest is possible. I have over 20 years of experience working with individuals who struggle with issues related to depression, anxiety, trauma and addiction. I believe change and insight are possible, and freedom from pain and suffering is attainable.

I believe the therapeutic relationship serves as a catalyst for understanding where we come from, and how our survival strategies and coping skills have benefitted us in the past, while also shining a light on which ones may be due for an upgrade. With a witness, and using principles of somatic therapy we can begin to excavate the limiting beliefs taking up valuable real estate in our psyche and put in motion an upshift of our self-concept. The therapeutic container acts as a vessel in which to recontextualize who we have been, who we are now and who we want to become.

Navigating life is a complex and tumultuous process. Every day, we're tugged in myriad directions, confronted with decisions at every turn that ask us to balance relationships, work, self-care, and personal growth. This constant barrage of "shoulds", responsibilities, and pressures in life creates an unrelenting current of stress and anxiety and leaves us worn thin and wondering, "why is it so hard to feel good?" It's no wonder that we find ourselves grasping at food, alcohol, tv, sex, drugs, and social media to relieve this tension. However, the relief provided by such behaviors is temporary and only exacerbates the problem.

I specialize in treating people experiencing relational challenges, life transitions, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and substance use issues. The healing journey is not a one-size-fits-all experience, so I draw on my training in EMDR, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, Gestalt therapy, attachment therapy, somatic therapy, wilderness therapy, Polyvagal theory, and addictions counseling to best meet you where you are in your process. We specialize in helping individuals and families with long-term healing and recovery from addiction, behavioral compulsions, mental health challenges, and other acute, chronic and relapsing illnesses. We practice Invitational Intervention®, ARISE® Continuing Care with Intervention, which is Evidence-Based and proven to be effective. We match the Certified ARISE® Interventionists to the specific needs of the client and the family and are well connected to the best treatment centers across the country. We offer consultation, case management, safe transportation across transitions (geographic, family relationships and emotional), coaching, companionship (sober and mental health companions), placement and treatment advice and intervention.

I believe our emotional lives - our feelings & memories - provide vital links to our capacity for aliveness. However, we often struggle to makes sense of these experiences and to use them for meaningful change. Core emotions that frequently haunt us like fear, anger, sadness, loneliness can be openings to a greater sense of meaning when explored, elaborated, and understood in a therapeutic group setting.

I'm a licensed clinical psychologist, and I believe that providing a safe and supportive environment fosters alliance and trust within the therapeutic relationship. My goal as a therapist is to help my clients achieve their goals whether that includes easing symptoms of depression or anxiety, working through difficult issues (current or past), increasing coping skills, increasing self-esteem, and/or identifying what's next in life. I am also trained and certified in EMDR.
