I have been providing support to children, adults and families during times of stress, transition and crisis for over 30 years. Areas of specialization include trauma resolution, life transitions and grief. My approach is both compassionate and practical. Supporting healthy attachment in relationship and supporting the inner changes that occur when one steps onto a spiritual path are of particular interest as well. Moving from worn out habits driving behavior to genuine expression and presence.

In the past thirty years of practice, I've come to deeply understand that all therapy is, in a sense, grief therapy. I began working as a volunteer with Hospice, and although I am trained and practiced in trauma and developmental techniques, I specialize my work with grief and loss. I help my clients walk through the profoundly life-changing territory of losses that can seem impossible to accept and heal from. Because we live in a culture that makes little room for it, I create a place and time for people to unpack their losses and, with time, grow into acceptance. Please let me know if I can help.

As a child, adults said to you: “Wow, you’re mature for your age!” Maybe you had to be. Growing up, you walked on eggshells, desperate to keep the peace. You tried to stay as small, quiet, and compliant as possible. You found yourself parenting your parent, navigating their difficult emotions, but you weren’t allowed to have any of your own. As an adult, you find yourself continuing to live in these patterns. You say “yes” when you want to say “no”. You put everyone else’s needs ahead of your own. You deny your emotions and you doubt your intuition. You feel lonely, unseen, and unknown.

When I explain my job to my youngest clients, I tell them that sometimes people have big emotions that make everyday activities like planning, getting to work, or even getting out of bed in the morning seem impossible. And it is my job to help those people figure out how to feel better. Our lives are full of trauma, loss, and challenge. It is easy to get overwhelmed by these experiences and fall into habits that don't serve our greater goals.
