Maybe those you love the most have hurt you or you’ve hurt them. Perhaps you know logically how you’d like to interact with healthy sexuality, but your reality is far from that. I get all of that. I work with clients for these reasons and more. I help clients not only become unstuck, but find their lost, true self so they can walk in freedom and renewed relationships.

My therapeutic approach is providing a safe, supportive, and judgement-free environment in order to create an atmosphere for individual exploration, growth, & change. I focus on treating the whole person. The “diagnosis”only gives me a good picture of what’s going on and focus on YOU. I believe that by learning how to balance the mind, body, and spirit by gaining a better, deep + core understanding of ourselves and our struggles, we can find a life of balance.

I am a therapist with well over 15 years of experience, who is in private practice in Little Rock. I worked in the Department of Psychiatry at UAMS for 8 years where I specialized in working with young adults age 14-24, utilizing several evidence-based therapies including cognitive behavioral therapy for anxiety, depressive, obsessive compulsive disorder, and other behavioral interventions. I was also the coordinator and lead therapist for the Eating Disorder Program at UAMS from 2009-2013, and I presently see clients 18+ who have an Eating Disorder diagnosis. Lastly, I work with clients who have a history of trauma.

Therapy offers a chance to learn new ways to cope with emotionally charged life challenges & process the things in life that keep us stuck. In our sessions, I'll help you identify & challenge self-defeating patterns that leave you stuck, unsatisfied, & less than your best. We'll develop a plan based on your needs & what you want out of therapy. I offer a supportive, nonjudgemental space for you to reflect, process, & grow. My approach is strength based, interactive, & collaborative, & I believe that authenticity, respect, & a sense of humor all contribute to a strong therapeutic relationship.

Additionally, I assist individuals and couples through the battles and transitions they may face in different stages of their lives.

I have 32 years of experience working with individuals, families and couples. I work with people suffering from depression and anxiety, marital issues, family conflicts, parenting issues, behavioral issues, grief, to name a few. I have written a book available on Amazon entitled, "Everybody Has A Story," a practical guide to marriage. This book offers insights into the challenges created by marriage. It is based on my years of experience working with couples to create a more healthy and happy existence.

In counseling, my focus is to meet clients where they are, help them determine where they want to be, and enable them to accomplish their goals. Change is possible! It takes work, but it is worth it to become the person you want to be. I have seen clients rise above unbelievable challenges and accomplish their goals. I have also walked along side those who are grieving or hurting to see them blossom out of the depths of their experiences. In addition, I am trained in EMDR therapy to treat trauma.

Kirsten loves to travel alongside LGBTQ folks as they find ways to reach their hopes and dreams for the future. Kirsten feels most effective working with people ages 9 and up. She especially enjoys helping teenagers and their families, and she also enjoys working with adults. Kirsten has been instrumental in developing and growing two pediatric gender clinics in Arkansas over the past 4 years to provide comprehensive care to transgender and non-binary youth and their families in our state.

I work with individuals seeking relief from the troubling effects of trauma, the negative impacts of unhealthy communication styles, and the harmful consequences of substance use as well as other behavioral addictions. My clients include teens, adults, couples, and families. The foundation of my practice is rooted in warmth, authenticity, compassion, and humor, backed by evidenced-based therapeutic methods.
