I see majority of mental health symptoms as unprocessed negative past experiences that have been stored in the nervous system. Clients who work with me are able to process those experiences & learn how to create flexibility within their nervous systems to reduce on-going emotional dysregulation.

I teach parents about child development and how the brain of a child works. Parents I work with learn how to relate to their children in ways that meet the needs of the developing child. I also facilitate emotional regulation through somatic therapy, which focuses on our experiences within our mind and body and the relationship between the two. My goal in therapy is for each client to feel safe, heard, and access their own empowerment for a more fulfilling, confident life. I work with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults.

Dr. LaFleur is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor (LPC-S), a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor and a Counselor Educator at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She specializes in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents as well as Filial Play Therapy which is a parent training program designed to increase communication and build a stronger and healthier relationship between parents and their children.
