I used to think that “success” was based on results. I focused on hard metrics to see if I was doing well. I always dreamed of owning a luxury brand purse and thought that if I could buy one, I’ve made it. But those purses are thousands of dollars and when I saw other people have one I felt inferior. Why are they ahead and I’m not? When I didn’t live up to these measures of success, I felt like a failure and started thinking that I was an imposter. Overtime, I learned how to succeed in my own way. I specialize in helping people find their own success by replacing negative self-talk with inner strength.

I believe a strong therapeutic partnership with clients is essential, as it’s easier to open up about their life and struggles. I am supportive and challenging when necessary as the over all goal is for clients to heal and thrive throughout changes in life, to become the best version of themselves.

My approach to counseling has been to build mutual trust with my clients, in order to help them identify their inner strengths, followed by them using those strengths to overcome life’s negative experiences.  I am passionate about working with minority clients because I understand the sensitive and uncomfortable nature that comes with asking for help. I enjoy collaboratively dismantling the expectations and pressures that clients carry to be strong and have it all together.

I believe therapy is a collaborative experience where the participant guides the process at their preferred pace. I have experience working with individuals, couples and families. I aim to provide a non-judgemental space that supports personal growth. I invite all forms of creative expression and the use of symbolism/ metaphors as tools for reflection. I acknowledge that humans have multiple intersectional identities and belong to many systems that may impact their therapeutic exploration. I hope to bring transparency and compassion to each interaction.

In the unknown world we are living in today, emotions are high as well as anxieties. I strive to help individuals through this and work towards managing their emotions. Client goals and needs are subjective and we will work together to identify them in our sessions. I would like my clients to be motivated to a lifestyle change that works for them and I want to help them do this. My hope is to help clients initiate change and growth so they can carry those tools into their future obstacles.

My interest in therapy started when I was at my breaking point, and my own therapy experiences didn't help. Since then, I've tried to be a therapist for anyone who found themselves in a similar situation, and sometimes being a helper isn't enough. I strive to connect with people where they are at, to understand what others might not, and to help when even the system lets you down. We all need an ally to get unstuck, reconnect and pick ourselves up, and I believe in doing so with warmth and respect. It can be tough to choose a stranger when we feel vulnerable and out of control. I've made it my goal to be someone worthy of that.

My approach to psychotherapy is to create a safe space where you can explore and heal the difficult and painful issues that are showing up in your life. Together we will move beyond problem-solving into releasing the deeply held mistaken beliefs and core unresolved issues behind your symptoms. My body-centered and somatic approach allows me to work directly with your nervous system to address symptoms like anxiety, racing thoughts, and irrational fears as well as feeling stuck, depressed and unavailable or unresponsive to life and relationships.

Okay, let’s be honest. Life can feel like a roller coaster sometimes. One minute you’re managing and the next you’re struggling. Does this sound familiar? Are you tired of just barely coping? Do you feel stuck or bombarded with negative thoughts? If the answer is yes, then you’re in the right place to get help. Despite the many twists, turns, and detours of life, you can thrive and not just survive. Life is too short to remain in emotional pain, being anxious all the time, or allowing trauma to control you.

Feeling stuck, lonely, lost or sad? If you’re looking for someone to help you during this difficult time, I’d love to help. It takes a lot of strength to seek support. I have experience working with adolescents and adults from all different backgrounds including Navy and Marine reservists and active duty. Although I’m not military, I really take pride in helping those who serve our country. I also have a passion for working with women struggling with postpartum issues as well. Having a new child can be both challenging and exhausting, yet also rewarding. I want to be here to help with these difficult times…I’ve been there.

You have the innate ability to usher change into your life! We experience things in life that often leave us feeling like we have been knocked down or knocked out. Whether its trauma from our childhood or a relationship in adulthood, whether we battle with anxiety, depression, PTSD, lonliness, stress, low self esteem and self worth, life transitions, or the death or non death process of grief and loss, we have all had life experiences that shape how we relate to the world.
