I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in private practice. I treat depression and anxiety, long standing problems, relation/couples, Gay/Lesbian, crisis intervention, coping w/chronic or terminal health concerns, mourning and grieving. I was a Director of Social Work in a psychiatric hospital. I left that position because I discovered my greatest interest was working with clients. I provide a relaxed environment where people can examine and solve problems, develop greater insight, and enhance coping skills in a non judgmental setting.

You deserve to live a life rooted in balance, purpose, and fulfillment. The pace and pressures of our society can make it difficult to navigate life with intention and clarity. Therapy creates space to honor your experiences, remain present with yourself, and move thoughtfully toward what lies ahead. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, or other obstacles to well-being, psychotherapy can support you in rediscovering your natural capacity to heal, adapt, and thrive.

‘What’s your story?’ I ask because the stories we tell ourselves profoundly influence mental health. Narrative counselors like myself explore client stories for behaviors, expectations, perceptions, and values which fail to align in effective ways. We suspect these incongruences are responsible for many of the miseries and hardships that prompt therapy. Therapy involves deconstructing what doesn’t make sense and reimagining what remains. I enjoy working with anyone whose story feels ‘stuck’ and wishes to reimagine themselves anew.

I work with adults who feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or stuck despite managing responsibilities in their daily lives. Many are professionals, caregivers, or leaders navigating high-functioning anxiety, or ongoing stress while appearing “fine” on the outside. They often feel like they are holding everything together for others but have little space to focus on themselves. My clients are seeking relief, clarity, and a supportive space where they can process what they’ve been carrying and begin to feel more grounded and in control.

Seeking therapy takes courage, it can be intimidating not knowing what to expect. I applaud you for taking this first step. When first coming to therapy, the most important thing is openness, being willing to explore and grow. My goal is to create a warm, supportive, and safe space where clients feel comfortable being themselves. I believe that each person is on their own unique path and is the expert in their own life. Each individual brings their own goals, hopes, and challenges, and my role is to gently support and guide them throughout their therapy journey and becoming their best selves.

I work with adults struggling with anxiety, irritability, stress and sleep concerns — Are you in a cycle, where you strive for change but hit a wall? As a busy adult, you may struggle with irritability that strains relationships, poor sleep that undermines focus and performance, or self-doubt that sabotages your goals. These challenges can feel isolating and draining—making it hard to feel calm, present, or in control. Trying to fix the problems alone can be exhausting because priorities and needs constantly change and cause progress to stall. Let’s work together to equip you with strategies that build traction and momentum.

Our ideal client is an individual yearning for change; someone who may be currently hopeless but is motivated to make the changes they need. We believe that we all can live the life we dream of if we tap into the best parts of ourselves. I have worked with clients involved with the criminal justice system, juvenile court, and child welfare systems. Past clients have included those coping with homelessness, substance abuse, poverty, depression, anxiety, parenting issues, loss, grief, and domestic violence. We understand the impact of stress and want our clients to be equipped to manage challenging situations without fear.

Feeling stuck can look a lot of different ways. Maybe your mind won’t slow down, you overthink everything, or you feel on edge more often than not. Maybe you’re carrying things from the past that still show up in ways you don’t fully understand. Or maybe things look “fine” on the outside, but internally it feels heavier than it should. You don’t have to sort through that alone.

You deserve a therapist who "gets it" as I've been called by prior clients. As a gay, neurodivergent woman who has lived experience, I do. I know what is like to feel stuck and want a change, to search for my authentic self. I'd love to support you in finding your "Why", your authentic self, and making strides towards the healthier, happier person you'd like to be. We can do this with person centered approaches, Art Therapy, EMDR, DBT, mindfulness, motivational interviewing or talk therapy. I especially enjoy and work well with the gay and trans community, young adults, and neurodivergent individuals.

Are you struggling with the pressure of your daily life? You likely have strategies and skills that have helped for a long time, but at some point those strategies aren’t enough and just getting through the day can become a challenge. Maybe you have been through a difficult or traumatic experience that has changed how you see yourself and the world around you. Maybe you are feeling more anger, fear, sadness, and worry and less joy and contentment.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
