I planned on practicing general medicine but discovered a passion for psychiatry and saw a need for prescribing providers in that field. Health and wellness includes all aspects of our lives and should be integrated. So understanding medical issues and the science of how physical and mental health interact and affect the patient’s life and function leads to my holistic or integrated approach to care.

People usually consult us because of our unique assessment and treatment philosophy. We provide care for the individual as well as the family. I am a UTSW trained Adult and Child/Adolescent psychiatrist providing customized treatment based on individual needs. I am committed to improving the wellness of my patients through a flexible and responsive approach. I specialize in diagnosing and treating depression, mood problems, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and behavioral issues associated with cognitive and developmental delays and other psychiatric illnesses. I am well versed in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal therapy (IPT), family therapy, and psychodynamic psychotherapy (insight-oriented psychotherapy). I'm board certified (American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology) in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry.

The Timothy Center is a collaborative group of therapists and medication providers founded in 2001 by Dr. Jimmy Myers, offering individual, couples, family, and group therapy as well as medication management. We are dedicated to individual assessment and treatment, and we are pleased to be able to accept many insurance plans. While we strongly believe in therapy, life-style, and environmental changes, we also believe that medication may be helpful, and is sometimes needed, for people to achieve remission of symptoms.

My vision of care includes identifying strengths, weaknesses, unique abilities and challenges of the person. This helps me to develop a comprehensive individualized plan in an integrative holistic model of care. I like to follow evidence based treatment approach. As every person’s need is unique, I try to develop a plan of care which best addresses this need and it ranges from just talk therapy to talk therapy plus medication management or only medication management.
