Kathleen “Kate” Hawk is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development & Family Studies from the University of Connecticut and a Master’s Degree in Psychiatric Nursing from Yale University. She has provided psychiatric services in Western Massachusetts since 2013 and feels privileged to reside in our diverse community. She has worked with individuals of all ages and backgrounds in both acute and community outpatient care for Behavioral Health Network Inc. and The Carson Center For Human Services.

As a Yale trained Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, with a Master's Degree in Psychology, and extensive training in both psychiatry and psychology, I will provide holistic, comprehensive, person-centered care. My commitment to you, is to not only treat the most overt symptoms currently showing up, but explore all contributing factors, and root causes, to develop a deeper understanding of how to best meet your goals. From this full-scope of awareness, and global insight, we will collaboratively work to create an integrative care plan that brings meaningful, sustainable, changes that improve your quality of life, and overall wellbeing.

I work with adolescents and adults who are dealing with mental health issues such as anxiety disorders, depression and bipolar mood disorders, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). My career has been focused primarily around reproductive mental health and wellbeing and providing psychiatric treatment to individuals during preconception planning, pregnancy and postpartum periods.

Our goal is to provide better mental health care for people with physical health problems and improved support for people with common mental disorders as well as those with severe mental illness. The underpinning of our care plans are based on the 6 human needs: Certainty, Variety, Significance, Connection, Growth and Contribution. Holding a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Walden University and a Doctorate in Psychology from the University of South Carolina Columbia, I specialize in Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health. Throughout my career, I've extensively engaged with individuals facing mental health challenges—bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, OCD, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. My journey started in a community mental health center, where I pioneered holistic care, customizing each approach to meet the unique needs of every client.

Dr. Hu is a Duke-trained dual-board-certified psychiatrist, specializing in anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) in adults, college students, adolescents and children. She emphasizes 3Cs in her practice- comprehensive, compassionate, evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Exposure-based approaches are one of the essential components, such as exposure and response prevention (ERP) or acceptance commitment therapy (ACT). She supports clients to live fully and freely, who previously were imprisoned by worries, ruminations, sensitivity to rejection, or constant sense of inadequacy.
