Sometimes life transitions, even celebrated ones such as the birth of a child or retirement, can create feelings of loss, new roles and questioning. I help people through all life transitions, grief & loss, and trauma. I also enjoy working with couples navigating challenges of parenting, work/life stressors, communication, and understanding partner's anxiety or depression. Clients who work with me tend to need support to break out of negative patterns, understand themselves and partners' needs better, and have a desire to achieve a higher quality of life & relationships.

This group is for those who are anticipating the loss of a loved one. This space of anticipation is so unique and complicated many minimize it though as just part of the situation. Come and talk to others who understand the grief and exhaustion, the thoughts of relief and the confusing emotions. Most people are trying to be strong for their families but you do not have to be strong here, just come and be with people who get it.

Trauma, grief, abuse, foster care or adoption - all of these come with so much that is recognized and not recognized by society.
There is not an easy fix or a quick answer but there is a way passed what you're going through. Maybe you've asked your friends and family and you're not getting anywhere. Maybe you haven't talked to anyone about it at all. You're not broken, you're not too much, and your absolutely worth the work you can do in therapy. Sometimes you know something is wrong but don't know what or where to begin. Sometimes you know exactly what's wrong and fear there is no solution or the pain or shame or fear have convinced you not to seek the perspective and growth that can come from counseling. If now is the time for therapy, let's talk.
Join us in a safe and supportive environment to discuss issues of grief and loss. Whether your loss is recent or from the distant past, this therapeutic group is a place for you to receive support from others who understand the pain and questions from one of life's greatest challenges. This is an ongoing group for ages 18 and above. If you have questions, or to learn more, please email hello@themendery.com. Your confidentiality is always a priority.

Have you recently experienced a type of loss: death, reproductive trauma, relationship loss, spiritual trauma, chronic illness, family member with a substance use disorder, or any life change ? Do you feel overwhelmed, anxious, confused, angry, isolated, like no one understands? If so, I would love to help you navigate and normalize these feelings.
Welcome! I'm Jennifer Caballero, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in grief and loss. We are all impacted by grief during our lifetime and yet grief is something that we rarely talk about as a society. Grief is a normal response to any loss. It has no timeline, easy fix, or specific set of instructions for healing. I believe grief is not pathological, or a problem that needs to be "fixed" or "gotten over." Grief is a journey that is unique to everyone. My approach is to help you identify how grief shows up and impacts your life while providing coping skills that allow you to incorporate grief into your ongoing story.
Change is a given, so let's create the the SHIFTS needed to navigate for a stimulating, yet peace-filled life! This (WIT) Group gives tools for life's challenges. Interact with Women who understand you. Allow me to be of service to you.

Welcome Geeks one and all. We are geeks using geek culture to counsel other geeks. We believe that shared affinity helps aid the therapeutic process by strengthening the therapeutic alliance. We also believe that we as humans are often able to best see ourselves and the plight we find ourselves through the power of story. We see trauma in Batman, grief in Harry Potter, depression in One Punch Man, and so on. We believe in the power of friendship and thus we offer various kinds of groups- D&D, video games, and educational groups because the journey is best taken together.
This group is for adult men and women who desire to learn more about navigating life stressors in a peer environment. Groups are led by a licensed professional. Group sizes are small and closed to non-participants. Offered both in-person and virtual.

My clinical psychology practice involves working with adults experiencing significant life transitions as well difficult emotional states. For many, depression and anxiety that stem from loss, grief and isolation, have been more difficult to manage because of the pandemic. Self-esteem and relationship difficulties have also been more troublesome during this time. I am particularly interested in helping people learn new ways to adapt to changing life circumstances, such as the consequences of the pandemic, adult children leaving home, managing chronic illness, deaths of significant others, and loss of what is familiar.

I provide online individual therapy & support groups to guide you through the unique barriers & grief of ending a wanted pregnancy.
If you have ended a wanted pregnancy, you are welcome & deserving of compassion, healing, & community. Termination for medical reasons (TFMR), or ending a wanted pregnancy due to the health of the baby or the pregnant person, is uniquely complex & results in the devastating loss of a much loved baby & future. You may feel much of the same pain & silencing that other pregnancy & infant loss parents do. You may also feel additional layers of shame, fear, & judgment due to the politicized nature of the loss, the idea that you had to make a “choice,” & the lack of safe & inclusive communities & resources available to support you.
Motherless Daughters of Austin, TX offers a compassionate community for women navigating the grief of losing their mothers. With in-person and virtual options, you’ll connect with others who truly get it. You’ll never feel alone again as you experience the comfort of shared understanding and support. We also host special events during tough times like Mother’s Day and the holidays, bringing members together to find strength in one another. If you’re seeking a safe, understanding space to heal, reach out today to join us. You don’t have to face this journey alone.

I have experience working with adults, families, and couples working through a variety of life's struggles: unresolved childhood trauma, depression, anxiety, hurt in relationships, betrayal, miscommunication, grief, abuse, and even pre-marital work.
Humans are relational. This means we are wired to be loved and accepted by those around us. We live among imperfect people, however, so our experience sometimes becomes hurt from unmet needs. The results then become unproductive patterns in our relationships, negative behaviors, a lack of positivity, and a sense of being stuck. For me, the goal of counseling is to heal past hurts and to process how those hurts affect our current choices and relationships. Once we free ourselves from the hurt, anger, guilt and shame of the past, we are open to feel love and to love others.
After the loss of a loved one, we experience a wide variety of feelings and emotions. The ever-changing emotions we experience with grief can catch us off guard, causing us to act out of character, or differently than our typical personality and demeanor. We all need a support system to help us as we move through our grief journey. While family and friends are important, sometimes we need more, a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone.

Grief Support Groups
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
