I am extremely passionate about helping women, adolescents and couples forgive and let go of past hurts, failures, trauma, and self-defeating behaviors. I have a passion for helping women heal and deal with some of the toughest realities of life. While my innermost passion is women, I am fully equipped to offer solution-based therapy to individuals from all walks of life. I believe we must normalize mental health and learn to work through trauma, stress, anxiety, unforgiveness, peer pressure, divorce, co-parenting, anger, self-esteem, identity, and any other struggles that we cannot face on our own.

In a world where many feel their life is out of control or in chaose, I offer a safe place to attain a new sense of serenity through common sense counseling. I specialize in helping adults and adolescents untangle and overcome life's disappointments and difficult experiences by offering new perspectives, and new coping strategies through a Christian worldview. My goal is to help the hurting identify the origin of their pain, suffering and damaging behaviors and to find a new, life-long sense of emotional sobriety and overall good health.

I work with adults and teens facing anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, OCD, grief/loss, and significant life transitions. The modern world is full of disruptions, from life changes ( divorce, death, marriage, puberty, moving) to career changes (changing jobs, retiring, burnout) to internal changes in personal or spiritual beliefs. Whatever has you feeling disconnected, confused, or off-balance, there are tools that can help you find a foothold — and more than a foothold, you can discover deeper meaning, value, and purpose in your life.

Do you ever feel stuck in or powerless over situations in your life? Do you feel like you’re repeating the same patterns over and over again? Are you struggling to find joy and connection? These experiences are a normal part of the human condition. Maintaining the status quo and avoiding discomfort are often our instinct, but they can keep us from living our most authentic and fulfilling lives. In our work together, we can explore the root causes of what is getting in the way so that you can heal from past or current traumas, develop new habits, learn to embrace and love your truest self, and create a life that is fulfilling to you.

Deciding it’s time to come to therapy can feel overwhelming and finding the "right fit" can feel like decision overload. I offer warmth, compassion, and non-judgmental kindness from the first consultation call to the moment you decide you are ready for our time together to end. My clients are teens & adults seeking support in cultivating resilience, peace, joy & connection in a busy world. I offer a space to get curious about understanding & addressing anxiety, depression, and trauma. Interrupting cycles of using perfectionism, overwork, disordered eating or substances to hide, numb or cope is not something you need to do alone.

This group is designed to give children and adolescents of divorcing families an outlet to manage and process the distinctively difficult emotional experiences that are often a core feature of families undergoing divorce, complex custody issues, and seperation. The group provides an important context for these children and adolescents to express their feelings and to gain from others who are also undergoing similar experiences. This has been an enormously successful group in which there is considerable benefit to the long-range health and well being of participants.

Divorce Support Groups

How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?

Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?

There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioral, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?

When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?

It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
