I have been in private practice for over 15 years. I gained extensive experience working in various setting such as Rape and Sexual Abuse centre in Guildford, GP surgery and a Drug and Alcohol charity. Working in these settings increased my knowledge and understanding with working with a variety of mental health issues around trauma, depression, anxiety and addictions. I have a particular interest in working with abuse (childhood, emotional and physical) and issues around relationship difficulties particularly toxic relationships. I offer both long and short term therapy depending on your specific needs.

Hello parents and carers, being a parent can be challenging at times, particularly when you are worried about your child's mental health and well-being. Your child might be having issues with low self-esteem or low confidence levels? Perhaps they are presenting as more anxious than usual or displaying behaviours which you find challenging? Your child might be experiencing difficulties with friendships at school, or as a family you may be finding relationships with each other to be fraught. Play therapy offers a confidential space for your child to work through their issues using creative arts, toys, games and play.

I am an experienced counsellor working with adults of all ages who are feeling overwhelmed or struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, or significant life transitions such as becoming a parent, adapting to the menopause or coping with getting older and retirement. You may be feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure why things feel so hard right now. I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about your experience, including thoughts or feelings that may feel hard to share elsewhere. Together we can begin to make sense of what you’re experiencing.

Counselling can be an opportunity to focus on yourself and bring change to your current situation. Therapy is a leap of faith that can result in growth and self-awareness. Times can be difficult, and navigating yourself through this can be the biggest challenge of all, but together, we can bring "You" into focus to work on what may be causing difficulties in your life. I work in a way that allows us to explore the initial issues and find further understanding of what is causing these under the surface.

Admitting that we need help can often feel overwhelming, shameful, or intimidating. The process of identifying someone who can assist us may evoke similar emotions. Research indicates that the most significant predictor of successful therapy outcomes is the quality of the relationship between you and your therapist. It’s crucial to find someone you can trust—someone who will uphold confidentiality and maintain appropriate boundaries, creating a safe environment for you to be open. This will facilitate insight and understanding, empowering you to make meaningful changes to your life.

The world is a very challenging place, particularly now. We never know what will emerge to test our resolve and wellbeing. When those episodes arise, it is often difficult to understand and make sense of what is going on.I offer a safe and confidential space where we can come together in a therapeutic setting to work through matters which are affecting you. Perhaps you are experiencing relationship difficulties, a loss such as bereavement or redundancy or are feeling anxious or depressed. It may be that you are struggling to find a direction in life or have a sense that something isn't right without knowing what it is.

I could tell you at length how I practice or what therapy means to me. However, the truth is that this is your therapy, your counselling. Your journey matters. I will hold the space for you to drive the work, and I will simply help navigate. I will support you and challenge you through the struggles you face, and we will work together during our time to reach your destination. It takes a lot to decide you need help or want to talk to someone and so the fact you are looking at this website is a positive step that not everyone feels they can take. Talking is hard, looking for help is brave, just keep going.

Are you tired of holding it all together on the outside while quietly falling apart on the inside? I support clients, especially women and young people, who feel stuck in patterns like people-pleasing, self-sabotage, or low self-worth. Often, these struggles are rooted in trauma or past experiences that taught you it wasn’t safe to be fully yourself. I also work with grief, anxiety, worry, low mood and many more. Together, we can gently explore what’s going on beneath the surface, so you can reconnect with who you are and what you need.

There are many reasons why someone might seek therapy. You might want to explore a particular issue, understand yourself better, or you might have a more general sense of feeling anxious, stuck, depressed or dissatisfied. Sometimes, it is hard to find the words for how we feel and to understand why we feel a particular way. Being heard and understood by a professional can be a first step towards relief and lasting change.

I work exclusively with individuals, tailoring each session to the unique needs of the person in front of me. If you're struggling with anxiety, depression, family issues, or low self-esteem, I understand how tough it can be to take the first step. Having gone through therapy myself, I know how intimidating it can feel to open up—so my goal is to create a supportive, empathetic space where you can feel safe, heard, and understood.

Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, postcode, or a provider’s name into the search bar. Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
