Let it be anxiety, depression, parenthood, general worries, grief or another specific theme that you have in mind, nothing is too little to be explored in therapy. Taking the first step towards entering therapy might not always be easy, being vulnerable in front of a stranger might be intimidating. My goal as a therapist is to give clients a safe, empathic, warm and non-judgemental space so that we can speak freely and you can have the psychological support you need, may this be in a short-term therapy concept or longer term.

This provides the trust and safety to address difficulties and work towards change. I value the individuality of each person I work with. I use this to explore how your life history and personal circumstances have influenced ways of thinking, feeling, and relating to others. I can support you to identify your goals for therapy and enhance your strengths to achieve these.

I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist based in Wokingham. My approach is psychoanalytic - this kind of therapy is based on the idea that what we experience as a difficulty in the present may point to an unconscious problem with roots in the past. You may find you are struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, self-destructive behaviour or difficulties in relationships and want to have a better understanding of what underpins these issues.

If you are thinking about finding a psychologist, chances are something difficult is going on in your life and it is getting harder and harder to deal with it. Unsatisfactory relationships, anxiety, not coping with stress, are very common reasons for getting in touch with me. Know that you don't have to go through these difficulties alone. I am a Polish psychologist in the UK and I offer consultations both, online and face to face in Reading and Slough in Berkshire. I specialise in working with people experiencing anxiety, life crises and who have difficulties with having a satisfactory like. I also offer consultations for parents.

If you are feeling anxious, depressed, have experienced a loss or bereavement, or there are simply too many life-events happening at once, come and talk to me. Discussing your thoughts will help to put them into perspective and make them less overwhelming. Often, we don't like to approach those closest to us as we may feel they might judge us by what we say, or be offended or upset. This is the time when talking to a therapist is most beneficial. I will be there just for you, to help you review your feelings, understand their basis, and find the best way to improve your situation.

Are you feeling lost and confused? Are thoughts whirling in your head leaving you feeling exhausted? Maybe you have a major life decision to make, or have had to adjust to a change that you did not want? Do all your relationships end the same way, and you want to learn how to stop repeating the pattern? Whatever reason you have for looking for counselling, I’d like to reassure you that I have probably already helped someone in your situation, and I can help you. The first step, asking for help, is the hardest.

Life is relationships, with others, objects, food, substances and with ourselves. I can support you to explore and understand difficulties in all your relationships. Helping you to develop a healthy communication style and set healthy boundaries within your relationships, building relationships built on respect, trust and kindness. When we live holding our thoughts and feelings inside we can become anxious, depressed or angry. My hope is to support you to say what is important to you and to talk from the heart. When we are able to say what we think and feel, we feel heard and seen but most importantly, we feel connected to others.

I love helping people to find out more about themselves and recognise their worth. I know that understanding your struggles can be confusing and stressful, but I also know that there’s hope. This can involve helping you to explore your own issues, history, feelings, beliefs, behaviour, values and worldview, so you can become more self-aware and confident in making your own choices. I won't try to 'fix' you or tell you what to do but can help you see that you have options. With the right support, I believe you can make sense of what's happening for you now and get back to feeling like yourself again.

Parenting Counsellors

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
