Accepting new clients, my credentials are in part scholastic however, my approach stems from the practice of doing my own healing work. Parents cannot take their children past the point of their own level of maturity. The same applies in therapeutic practice, walk the talk! Thus, presence in therapeutic relationships is the basis to addressing issues with addictions, anxiety, relationships that drive you crazy, anger, cultural issues, career issues and simply letting go of what does not work in your life. I offer services in both official languages! Do you have adult children who struggle with addictions, I can help.

I have had the pleasure of working with a highly variable spectrum of individuals. My experience includes work with youth/adults in the correctional system, in-patient treatment facilities, outpatient treatment facilities, NCRMD forensic care homes, and private consulting for individuals ranging from 16-65. I do not have an "ideal" client. I thrive on being challenged, and exploring the human sciences allows me that challenge, regardless of clientele. Over the last year, I have developed my education in child and youth mental health intervention and counselling as well.

Individuals are unique in their strengths and challenges. In a warm safe environment we focus on strengths, to deal with challenges in a person's life. Receipts are accepted by most insurance providers. I am registered as a NIHB provider., and WCB non accredited provider.

Cathy is respectful of her clients. She uses a multidisciplinary approach. Cathy has recently added Clinical Counselling Hypnotherapy to her practice and she is finding it a very transformative tool. Cathy is known as being straightforward and courteous. Cathy is gifted in bringing out the positives in her therapy sessions. She is also a Usui trained Reiki Master and teacher.

I am a Mental Health Therapist for Ahtahkakoop and Beardy's & Okemasis Cree Nations. Clients with a treaty numbers get free counselling, I direct bill to NIHB. During my work experience with Indigenous clients, I understand the struggles facing Indigenous Peoples (i.e., Residential School Trauma, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, etc.). Working closely with people who experienced grief/loss, anxiety/depression, addictions and mental illness, I promote the importance of Elders, Culture, Language, Traditional Teachings, and Ceremonies for a positive healing journey for mental wellbeing.

I have experience working with the following: Depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, OCD, ADD/ADHD, suicidal ideation, self-harm, addiction, trauma/PTSD, loss/grief/bereavement. I support my client's while they process out their trauma and help them to learn coping for their mental health struggles. I use a holistic approach and incorporate the four quadrants of health: Mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. Being mindful of each client's individual and unique needs. I graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Ph.D. in clinical psychology in 2016, and have been working in private practice since 2017 (formerly of Chartier Arnold Shimp & Associates). I have extensive training and a wealth of experience that I bring to my work with each of my clients, in order to help them identify and challenge unhelpful ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving that are leaving them feeling stuck and helpless. We all have ideas about who and how we “should be.” These powerful “shoulds” are shaped by many things including our relationships, cultural beliefs, and society. When we compare ourselves to these “shoulds” and don’t measure up, we may suffer from shame, low self-worth, isolation, and avoidance. Instead of measuring your self-worth according to “shoulds,” I believe therapy can help you recognize your inherent worth so you become free to define and pursue who you want to be, the kind of relationships you want to have, and the kind of life you want to live.

Listening and building a trusting relationship can take time. Brief therapy is helpful in times of crisis, but sometimes people need more time to process than brief therapy can provide.
