Who would you be if you truly had the freedom to be yourself? In this life, it can be easy to turn against yourself, believing that you are not enough as you are - to feel shame, resentment, hopelessness, or loneliness. I understand it takes courage to seek help when you are not at your best, so I take your decision to engage in therapy respectfully. I am committed to helping individuals build healthier relationships to reconnect with themselves and others. I believe in working collaboratively with clients to help them gain the insight and coping skills needed to lead a more fulfilling life.

The real cause of unhappiness is self-distrust, we do not trust ourselves well enough to win our battles. We are most times more scared of the known coming to an end than the beginning of the unknown. No wound is too deep for a ferocious devotion to heal. A huge number of human challenges ranges from financial, emotional and lack of spiritual energy to face our challenges.

Maybe you feel like something’s wrong, but you’re not sure exactly what. Lately it’s been harder to deal with the challenges of everyday life. You've lost your usual motivation and energy. It seems like your emotions can change from one minute to the next. And sometimes you let your emotions get the best of you. You’ve noticed a change in yourself, and your loved ones can see it too, but they're not sure how to help.

I approach therapy with an open mind that is free of judgement and full of genuine care. I use a variety of theoretical frameworks and techniques that benefit individual clients; I believe in being adaptable because everyone is unique in their perspectives, experiences, and needs. My main theoretical framework is grounded in attachment theory, while sessions are client-centred; the methods and motivation to develop positive change comes from within oneself. I naturally gravitate towards developing an empathetic understanding of my clients, which promotes strong therapeutic relationships and positive client expectations.

Has the stress of infertility or pregnancy loss affected your mental health or relationship with your partner? Are you feeling isolated and like nobody truly understands what you're going through? Or perhaps you are struggling with being the caregiver of someone who is elderly or has special needs. Maybe you, yourself, are struggling with the stress of declining health, life transitions, or a new medical diagnosis.

Supporting individuals, children, and families through life transitions, relationship issues, and other barriers that keep us from ‘thriving’, has always been my goal. I have done this through extensive work in the non-profit sector (both in Canada and India), and now as a Registered Provisional Psychologist (R.Psych Provisional). I strive to create a non-judgmental therapeutic relationship in which clients feel safe, understood, and with a vision of what ‘stepping forward with hope’ might look like to them.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
How much does therapy cost?
Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
