Accepting new clients! Let’s be honest, finding a therapist to work with can be a daunting and overwhelming task. It can be difficult to even know where to start. I understand this firsthand, having experienced both sides of the client-therapist dynamic. I empathize with the desire to find a professional who can truly listen, validate your experiences, and create a comfortable space for personal growth and transformation. In working with you, my goal is to offer support and equip you with the necessary tools and strategies to achieve the progress and positive changes you desire, even when the path seems unclear.

Finding the right therapist can make all the difference! Do you feel stuck in a situation where it is hard to see the light? Whether it’s events or patterns from your past, or your present, you may feel frustration or shame at not being able to change. Or as a parent/caregiver you might feel helpless as you watch your child struggle with anxiety or behaviour. And often a child in crisis can impact the dynamics of the entire family, making everyone feel off-balance and confused. Let's work together to help you start to bend towards the light, to feel the hope that comes with the support to create healthy, sustainable changes.

I am experienced in providing support for BIPOC individuals, couples, and parents who are seeking support to break unhelpful cycles, move forward from betrayal, trauma or loss, and strengthen relationships with self and others.
Have you been struggling to feel connected to yourself and others? Do you feel overwhelmed with stress, loss, and pain? Many of us push away our needs, or we might be taught from a young age to hide our pain and be strong for others. This often leads to long-term issues for our mind and body. During our work together, I offer a custom approach for each of my clients. I start with understanding where you are now and the challenges you are facing. We will work together as a team to reach your unique goals in a safe, empathetic, and compassionate environment.

If you are an “over” person - an overthinker, overwhelmed, or overworked - then you are one of the people I work with best. You are hard on yourself, “self-care” is confusing or guilt-inducing, you can get paralyzed by intense feelings, stuck in negative thought spirals, or find yourself shutting down. You may have been wondering for a long time how to turn off negative thoughts or let go of things you can’t change. The constant weight of what you believe you “should” be doing can feel immobilizing, and the endless fight against the “what ifs” is exhausting. It may feel impossible to move on or let go of negativity or trauma.

I have over ten years of experience supporting individuals and couples with areas including, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, stress/burnout, self-esteem, & trauma.
Life can be messy, and sometimes we need someone to help hold our stuff. My favourite part about this is assisting people to step into their power, give words to their feelings, and start creating a life they love. I firmly believe that human connection is the foundation of an abundant life. For this reason, I am passionate about working with people to improve their relationships with themselves and others. What this looks like is defined by my clients, but can include support with deepening understandings of themselves, overcoming people pleasing, increasing self-compassion, and getting out of their thoughts and into their life.

Feeling both calm and alive is a whole lot trickier right now. From being a kid where the rules of the world keep changing, to being a teen ready to step into the world that says, “wait a minute, please stay at home for a while”, to being a parent navigating all of this...let’s just say, it’s a lot. My work focuses on supporting families, especially those with new adults in the household. We’ll talk about where you feel “spun-out”, “depleted” or “stuck”, then explore where you want to be. I offer cutting-edge technology including neurofeedback along with counselling because that is how I have witnessed many embrace lasting change.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
