The most common issues clients come to me for are trauma/PTSD/anxiety/depression, self-esteem/assertiveness/confidence, and relationship difficulties.
Currently offering remote sessions (video). Accepting new clients. I am a Clinical Supervisor. When most clients come to me they don't know where to start and they haven't been able to overcome their problems alone or with their friend's advice. My clients need someone to listen, someone who knows about the fake face, someone who can help them understand "why"; and help them find a way to get healthy. I have a Masters in Counseling Psychology from OISE UofT the University of Toronto where I learned to use research-supported methods to help clients be empowered. Clients are always the experts on themselves.

I am a registered psychotherapist- I call myself the "kitchen sink" of therapy. If you don't feel like traditional therapy is for you, then I work with you to find what is for you. I specialize in: Trauma, PTSD, BPD, CPTSD, youth, anxiety and depression. I am Queer-LGBTQ2S- non-gender conforming. I look at therapy as a path towards healing, with a holistic approach towards health and mental wellness. Trauma-informed expressive therapy is based on bringing what is unconscious to conciousness in a safe way and finding containers that work with you to help you process and unpack in order to heal.

My book, Facing Your Anxiety: A Personal Guide to Freedom from Anxiety, shows you can free yourself from anxiety that holds you back from living to your fullest.
Are you a highly sensitive person? With your empathy and the extraordinary level of care you invest into your projects and relationships, you may be at a risk of burnout. Chronic anxiety is a key indicator that something has to change. When you master your emotions, you can escape the survival mode and start thriving. Thriving means starting to dream again (which many of us stopped doing as we grew up) and creating the life and career you desire. Can you imagine what your best life might look and feel like?

I have helped individuals with issues such as anxiety, OCD, insomnia, ADHD, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, and difficult emotions.
Are you feeling stuck? Many see therapy as an intimidating space with one-sided conversations and a professional who analyzes you from behind a clipboard saying the occasional "mhmm" or "how does that make you feel". I see therapy as a space where we meet as two flawed human beings and try to work at things together. I want to help you get unstuck from painful thoughts and feelings that are getting in your way and help you find meaning.

I specialize in anxiety, depression, anger, and grief, but I’m more interested in the person than a diagnosis.
Growing up, I just assumed everybody didn’t like themselves. I thought there were people that were open about not liking themselves, and then the rest of us pretending to like ourselves. It was the work I did in therapy that helped me learn there was this wild third option of “actually liking and appreciating myself”. Now I have the joy of sharing that with people as they learn they don’t have to feel so angry, worried, afraid, sad, or guilty all of the time.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
