Utilising current, evidence-based counselling techniques I honour all clients from a client-centred approach, as we journey together trusting the innate wisdom held within us all as a platform for healing and wellbeing. I have 11 years of socially diverse and culturally rich experience of counselling families and individuals experiencing trauma, loss, anxiety, stress, depression, addictions, OCD, major life transitions and relationship challenges. My long involvement with individuals and families, both personally and professionally, has taught me much about the struggles and challenges many of us may face.

If you're experiencing anything that has reached you at a deeper level in life, whether it be a visitation from a deceased loved one, a vision of the future, a soul connection, a near-death experience, feeling like you're not on the right path, strange energetic experiences, a feeling there's something you need to do or achieve in this life or anything you would struggle to tell others about, I might be the right practitioner for you.

Neurological conditions affect both the patient and their family. I offer my services to both. Neurological disorders are doubtless among the most frightening illnesses that human beings face. Knowledge is sometimes the only power there is against the vagaries of these ailments. That is where counselling from a specialist psychotherapist comes in. I will make an assessment of the patient’s condition and take a medical history. I will also work with the patient’s doctor to coordinate the psychotherapy with medical treatment. I offer sessions by Phone, Skype, FaceTime and ZOOM. Call me and let’s discuss possible therapeutic options.

Sometimes life feels like it is getting out of hand. You are transitioning through different phases of life and your expectations are changing as you do. You are frustrated that things are not going the way you had hoped or planned, and you aren't sure why? You may not be connected in the ways you'd like with your family or friends, so you don't have the personal support network that people are designed to rely upon. You wonder how other people manage and you feel like you should be, too...but you don't feel like you have any control and you aren't sure how to create meaningful change. You just need some help without judgement.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, tired, hopeless or lacking joy; like your emotions are uncontrollable or that they do not match with reality; that your worry is getting out of hand or that there is no longer any point, then it might be a good time to seek some support. We are social creatures, and despite what our modern society might have us believe, we all need human connection to function. Seeking support is a huge sign of strength – the strength to actually reach out and let someone in, in order to start the healing process. If you can relate to this or if you have set yourself a personal development goal please reach out.

Hi, I’m Jack. I am a psychotherapist, educator, father and long term partner and I came to this work through my own experiences with therapy. I have come to trust that both acceptance and change are possible in our lives. There are many reasons we may begin therapy; we may long for change or hope for opportunities for healing, growth and transformation. Whether there is a particular thing you are struggling with, a need for greater support, or an interest in deepening self-awareness, I can support you on your journey.

My practice is informed by a humanistic-existential approach, which means, I understand the complexity of individual intrapersonal and interpersonal experiences and believe that they are at the heart of our human experience. I believe we all have it within us to create meaning and purpose in our lives and this can only occur when we come to understand our lives are not something to overcome but rather something we must face with compassion and tenderness. I draw on evidence based modalities such as CBT, ACT, EFT, IFS, family systems, and Gottman approach to support and guide individual and couples therapy.

Existential therapy focuses on freedom, responsibility, and the meaning of life coupled with a mindfulness based approach to alleviate anxieties and fears while working towards integration and self-actualization. We all need a tailored therapy just for us, which is why sessions are never limited by one approach. I also take inspiration from the psychoanalytic tradition through Horney and Kernberg as well as my foundational practice in CBT and ACT.

I specialise in person-centred, Acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), existential therapy and psychodynamic.
Our behaviours and feelings (emotional or physical symptoms) can be indicative to our state of mind. I believe anything that presents itself is asking to be acknowledged that it is there. I'm client focused and work according to your pace. I facilitate space for the presented issues to be explored and work towards obtaining peace and healthy function. I have an eclectic approach, using interventions suitable to the individual client.

Existential Counsellors

How does existential therapy work?

Existential therapy focuses on a patient’s inner experiences. The therapist tries to help the individual comprehend and alleviate symptoms by exploring their interior life. By confronting negative disquiet and emotions, the individual will hopefully become more open to finding meaning and purpose. This therapy can be administered to individuals or groups.

Is existential therapy evidence-based?

Existential therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has determined that existential therapy can lead to significant improvement in the mental health of patients, and for some people it can be just as effective as cognitive behavioural therapy. The benefits of existential therapy are enduring, even long after treatment has ended.

How long does existential therapy last?

The goal of existential therapy is to understand a person’s internal experiences, which may sound like a lengthy process, but it does not have to be so in-depth. However, sessions are not short-term, and therapy can continue for months or up to a year. And because patients learn the theory behind existential therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is existential therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with existential therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving feelings of isolation, feelings of purposelessness, as well as conditions such as anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can persist even after the end of existential therapy, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve developed during treatment.
