I specialize in providing care to people from diverse backgrounds with unique needs and struggles seeking Individual Counseling ages 18 +. I look forward to helping those who are struggling with symptoms of anxiety, depression, stress, adult development, relationship issues, and career and life adjustment issues related to grief, loss, and life changes. Everyone has struggles in their lives at one point or another, I want to be able to help people navigate those struggles to live the best life they want to live. I have experience working with a variety of needs from ADHD, anxiety, depression, parenting stress and difficulties, personality disorders, foster care, trauma and family conflict. I have been working within the field for the last 15 + years in some capacity and will provide a space that will allow you to be authentic in whatever it is you are struggling with.

My name is Dan Dashner. I am dually licensed in the treatment of mental health and substance use disorders. As a therapist, I prefer to look beyond labels and identify and resolve root causes for emotional pain and suffering. Clients I work with are typically individuals, couples, and families who are experiencing some form of emotional discomfort, or emotional pain. Sometimes this is stress brought on by recent changes to work, family, or significant relationships. Other times the focus of therapy is with clients who've made repeated but unsuccessful attempts at resolving a persistent condition.

You have made it far in life, so I know you are already strong and skilled! Sometimes it can be difficult to see that part of ourselves; we might lose sight of our abilities or be blinded by the stressors we face. Or perhaps the skills and abilities that carried us through past challenges are not supporting us through our current circumstances. My philosophy of care is holistic combining evidence-based practices with a multi-dimensional approach to well-being. I work to support and empower clients in improving their quality of life and achieving their goals.

For over forty years I've helped individuals and couples heal their emotional wounds. If you grew up in a dysfunctional family, the traumatic effects of that environment, such as anxiety, depression, anger, and relationship problems, are with you to this day. To have the fully functioning life you want, it is essential to recover from the neglect, abuse, and lack of parental attunement from which you may have suffered in your early years. I'll collaborate with you to help you understand how your past affects your present, and how you can make the changes you need to improve your life and relationships.

I offer a compassionate, open and supportive environment to help you create the life you want to live. Your goals and personal journey guide the sessions. My specialty is couple relationships, with an emphasis on healthy and helpful communication. I also work with both adolescents and adults in the treatment of anxiety, depression and anger management. I use both solution focused and mindfulness approaches to assist you in resolving the challenges you are facing. I also help families at all stages of life improve their family interactions and communication, and create a fulfilling loving family life.

My ideal client would be anyone in elementary, middle school, high school or post-secondary or early employment. When asked or when I introduced myself, I would label myself as a "school doctor" (rather than a medical doctor) who specializes in all things related to school including, but not limited to academic expectations or challenges; getting along with others through social connections or behavior choices, emotional adjustment or coping with stressors. Usually there is a gap between where you are and where you would like to be and it is our job to work together and move towards reducing that gap.

As an integrative practitioner, I meet clients where they are at in life. Healing and wellness is part of our life journey, and reaching out to others is often a necessary part of the healing process. Life hands us tough challenges, these are not meant to break us, rather to help us define who we are and better understand what our journey means. Often times we feel like we are broken, or simply don't fit in; these are opportunities to intentionally explore whether we are living our authentic life, or trying to follow someone else's path.

I am accepting new clients. I have experience working in a variety of clinical settings treating both mental health and addiction issues simultaneously or separately. I offer court-ordered alcohol and drug assessments, DOT assessments as a certified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP), as well as attorney-ordered assessments. What makes my approach unique, is my ability to adapt treatment to fit your specific needs thereby making a complicated process a little more manageable. When the client can wrap their mind around the problem in a way they've never considered is the beginning point for effective and meaningful therapy.

Through prior clinical experience and graduate school, I have provided services to those individuals experiencing and dealing with challenges related to related to depression, anxiety, attachment issues, adjustment disorders, relationship issues, adolescent issues, college age issues, and who identify as LGBTQ+. This prior experience is in addition to other stressors or life's experiences and challenges individual are facing. Through my time working in the MCHS Emergency Department, I have worked with individuals in crisis and provided crisis intervention services and completed suicide risk assessments.

I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults navigating a broad range of emotional, behavioral, and relationship concerns. My specialty is in working with trauma and children ages 3-10. I have advanced training as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and in Child-Centered Play Therapy. As a therapist, I provide a supportive, egalitarian counseling relationship and believe in working alongside clients to maximize their strengths and help them achieve their goals.

I am a licensed professional counselor in training and work with adolescents & adults. I received my Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse located in La Crosse, WI & my Master's of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Winona State University located in Winona, MN. I bring life experiences into my counseling which allows the building of strong, therapeutic relationships with my clients.

I have been 8 years of clinical experience and specialize in forensic social work and extensive experience working with clients who have issues with addictions, depression, anxiety, and bipolar.

My focus is on healing developmental trauma and its accompanying symptoms, which include anxiety, depression and unresolved grief. With more than 40 years spent as a therapist, and with my specialized somatic training, I help my clients use their body, mind and heart to get grounded, discharge old trauma and connect to their authentic selves.
