My name is Sally Neumann, and I am a mental health counselor based in Seattle, Washington. I work primarily with adults, and focus on mitigating anxiety and building self-esteem. As a trauma therapist, I believe that personal growth and transformation is vital to the human experience, and that sometimes we need support through this process. Therapy is embarking on a journey, and you are the hero of your story. In meeting with you where you are at in your journey, I will help you to develop your own set of skills to help you through your daily experiences. I also encourage approaching challenges with vulnerability and self-compassion and will assist in practicing these areas in our sessions. Even though painful experiences are inevitable, I believe that suffering does not have to hold us back from living.

Counseling can offer an understanding of the behaviors, beliefs and emotions that fuel our daily interactions with families and other people. Therapy is a process. My job is to facilitate you through possible change options. It is my goal to work with you closely during therapy to aid in clarifying your goals for treatment, explore patterns and choices of communication, relationships, life style and foster development of beneficial coping strategies with commitment on both parts during therapy. The main goal is to explore patterns of behavior, thoughts, and actions to foster positive change and personal growth.

We all want to be seen and understood and at the same time are afraid of what we and others will find. We don't trust ourselves or our decisions. We suffer from anxiety, depression, traumas and a myriad of other relational issues. In counseling we learn to understand ourselves and others by telling our stories well. As a greek philosopher once said, "An unexamined life isn't worth living". When we learn to examine ourselves with curiosity, compassion, and truth our life becomes clear hopeful and fullfilling.

I counsel the following populations: individuals struggling with anger, depression, grief, anxiety and/or trauma (such as acute trauma or PTSD); couples struggling with communication, trust, infidelity, and/or abusive patterns; and teens struggling with motivation, self-esteem, suicidal preoccupations, anti-social or other behavioral issues. I counsel individuals struggling with psychotic disorders, personality disorders and dissociative disorders. I provide family counseling as well as conflict resolution and mediation services. I provide coaching for wellness, psycho-spiritual growth, communication skills, relationship skills and parenting skills. Also, I provide psychosocial assessments.

With expertise spanning various domains, I offer guidance for individuals and couples seeking improved relationships and communication. Additionally, I provide personal growth support for those with low self-esteem and anxiety, aid in cultural identity exploration, assist trauma survivors on their healing journey, and offer mental health and wellness support for challenges like burnout, ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, and more.

I work with clients who need support managing ADHD, depression, and/or anxiety. They may want a space where they can work through their issues without judgement of their character or who they authentically are. My clients may want time to heal and grow towards what goals they have or who they want to become.

My ideal client is someone who is ready to work together to achieve the change that they are looking for in their lives. I especially enjoy working with individuals who have survived complex or repeat traumas and are interested in understanding and modifying (as necessary) the ways that trauma has shaped their identities, relationships, and how they feel day-to-day. This may present as PTSD, depression, anxiety, complex relationships, personality disorders, or all of the above. I do not expect my clients to come to me with answers but rather with curiosity and openness.

I have been a practicing psychotherapist/counselor for over 30 years and have worked with the whole spectrum of life stressors and emotional troubles. I work with adults age 25 and older who have issues related to binge eating, compulsive overeating, body image, and weight. Many of my patients are also experiencing depression and anxiety.
