As both a therapist and a person, I understand that life sometimes serves up hard-to-categorize problems that can be overwhelming. I'm very familiar with issues like depression, anxiety, and addiction, and my training and certification in EMDR allows me to be especially effective with trauma resolution and attachment repair. My career started on a hospital behavioral health inpatient unit, which has allowed me to become comfortable with some pretty intense situations, but my background is varied and I work well with all ages. Youth and adults who come to me often struggle with social-emotional and behavioral issues affecting academic progress, job functioning, peer/family relationships and self-image. These issues are often rooted in family conflict, identity confusion and trauma and can lead to more serious issues of anxiety and depression. As an interventionist, I will first help you resolve interpersonal conflicts and move outward to address family relational, social, academic, cultural and spiritual functioning.

By using a myriad of psychological strategies and concepts Derrick has helped many people recover, heal, and thrive.
