There's a reason you do what you do, think what you think, and feel what you feel. Let's take the time to understand why your behaviors make sense, given the situation, and what you know. You will gain clarity around the impact of your choices, and learn the necessary tools to persist in or shift behaviors based on your values**Please Note: I'm most easily reached by e-mail, as during business hours I'm often in session and unable to take calls. Research supports that evidence based counseling techniques such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Mindfulness can be effective to help tap into your own unique strengths and abilities, learn to calm the mind, and focus on creating a plan to feel better.
Chronic pain and illness can impact all aspects of a person’s life. They can be physically and mentally debilitating and directly affect relationships, work, finances, confidence, and ability to complete even simple daily tasks. If you are having trouble managing symptoms of pain, illness, side effects from treatment, or feeling stressed, worried, or isolated, you are not alone. Millions of people are struggling with health issues, and those around them don’t always understand, don’t know how to help, or both. It can be overwhelming and difficult to handle on your own.

ACT treatment is used to help clients see in real terms how their life can be positively changed by accepting the conditions and circumstances around them.
I help children/adolescents, adults, couples and seniors. I aim to help others who suffer from anxiety, self-esteem issues, depression and other mental health issues. Helping with life transitions, stress and life decisions is also how I aim to help others to live their best possible life. My greatest strength as a counselor is my ability to listen with empathy. In working as a school counselor I have years of experience in working with not only school aged children and adolescents, but in also working with their parents and extended families. Helping people determine their next steps towards resolution is one my strongest skills.

I utilize Somatic therapies, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, trauma informed yoga, and DBT.
Hi! I'm Angela. You are ready to dig deep and face all the avoidance in your life and feel those damn feels so you can embody your life without disordered eating, over working, or panic attacks? Do you want to feel at home in your body? Are you tired and burned out of the energy it takes to hate your body and obsess about food? Are you want to experience the magic of yoga and meditation to help you with just "being."? Are you desiring a life with boundaries around work so you can continue to explore your passion? If you answered yes to any of these I know I can help.

Hello. As a therapist practicing for over 15 years I consider it an honor to walk beside my clients as they approach their struggles. Life is hard. It's sad, lonely, aggravating and completely relentless sometimes. We all need a nonjudgmental ear to aid in our own understanding of what might have us seemingly stuck.

Depression and anxiety can make it hard to find motivation to do many things that once may have been a part of our daily routine. If you are scrolling through this website looking for help that means that you have taken the first step of many to 'un-stuck' yourself. You should be proud of this! Whether you are in a transitional period in your life and not sure where to go, questioning aspects of your identity, or don't know yet where to begin; therapy can be a great way to work things out.

One of the hardest decisions in life is to seek help. We all encounter challenges and/or disadvantages at some point, and it is easy to feel discouraged and criticize yourself in this process. Although these difficulties can affect you in profound ways, I believe that they are also opportunities to learn about your inner world and reflect upon what is working and what is not. This journey is quite exhausting for one person, so I aim to become a part of your support system. I hope to empower each individual to make personal choices that will allow them to discover confidence, direction, happiness, peace, and healing.

You didn't realize just how overwhelmed, broken, and alone you'd feel. Suffering through infertility and baby loss is beyond devastating. Traumatic experiences bring anxiety and shame up to the surface and impact our most meaningful relationships. Even 'happy' things like marriage and becoming a new mom becomes a complex mash-up of emotions. Despite your best efforts, the emotional roller coaster and quiet despair haven't gone away. You try so so hard. And yet, you are lost, filled with worry and guilt. You fear losing intimacy and connection with your partner and see the beginnings of drifting apart.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
