Our healing journey is exactly that - a journey. I know personally how difficult that journey can be, I've been there. At its core, my primary goal has always been to find personal peace, a goal that remains steadfast even today. Can you identify with this quest for inner harmony? Are you also on a journey to unlock the best version of yourself? Understanding that desire intimately, I have chosen a purposeful path that enables me to utilize my passion and talents to help others unearth and embrace their true selves. My aim is to guide them towards finding peace with the authentic version of who they are - their Real U.

I often use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in my practice.
I work with individuals and couples who feel stuck in recurring patterns—relationship conflict, communication issues, anger, burnout, or the sense that something needs to change. Many of my clients feel misunderstood, overwhelmed, or emotionally reactive, and are looking for practical support that actually helps them move forward. I commonly help with couples therapy and relationship issues, anger, sadness and emotional regulation, burnout in helping professionals, family conflict, career transitions, and the impact of a loved one’s substance use. I also work with individuals navigating religious trauma or faith deconstruction.

To empower my clients, I utilize an eclectic approach based on cognitive behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and internal family systems.
Folks who come to me for therapy might experience thought spirals that disconnect them from their emotions. Folks who come to me for therapy might believe that they’re not enough in some way, or that negative emotions mean there is something wrong with them. Folks who come to me for therapy might learn that not only are they not alone in feeling this way, but that they are more enough than they believe. I have worked with a variety of folks from all walks of life, and most of my experience lies in anxiety disorders, depression, grief and loss, self-esteem issues, body-focused repetitive behaviors, and life transitions.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
