People who seek therapy are the sanest of us all. They look around at their lives and they realize that they want something better and they have the courage to go out and get it.

Not accepting new clients
My clients are those who find themselves processing at the end of the day. They either don't have time to take care of themselves, lack community support, or use the business of the day to drown out the internal noise. They wrestle with sadness, doubt, fear, anxiety, past pain, and difficult relationships. They may be outsiders - feeling alone, misunderstood, or unaccepted. They are motivated to get help, but might not know exactly how to do it, yet. They are thoughtful, and courageous enough to give therapy a try. They also know that their time is valuable, and that online therapy saves them time, energy, and money.

I have experience working with individuals who are struggling with anxiety, stress, depression, PTSD, adjustment issues, dissatisfaction with their relationships/work/life, personality disorders, mood regulation, sleep disturbances, identity issues, ADHD/ADD, OCD, anger, delayed cognitive development, general social skills, and more.
Life is unpredictable, and traumatic events and life changes can cause individuals to feel lost, stuck, or unsure of how to move forward. My primary focus is to help individuals identify any areas in their lives that may be causing hindrances to their happiness, personal growth, and overall well-being. I believe that in order to heal, it's important for individuals to gain a better understanding of themselves, their relationships, and how life experiences have impacted them.

I have hope when working with people who are going through intense emotion such as of anger, anxiety, or depression. I'm optimistic when working with folks who experience this because I believe in strengths-based counseling, and I've witnessed many people grow their strength to be able to process those emotions. Though the emotion difficulties can be similar across people I work with, the reasons each person feels this way are unique, and I want to hear your story.

We all have pain, stress, and disappointments to work through - big things and small. When left unaddressed, they show up as anxiety, grief, anger, perfectionism or depression, limiting our ability to be at peace with ourselves and in our relationships. Maybe something in your life doesn't feel right, and has become too much to bear by yourself. You want to step into new ways of being in the world, free from the shame, fear and pain you have been carrying for so long. Taking the first step towards getting the help you need can feel incredibly vulnerable, and I promise to honor the strength it took to get here.

My practice focuses on helping children, adolescents, and adults who are challenged by anxiety, depression, and self-esteem; ADHD and executive functioning; screen time and tech issues; sexual, physical, and/or emotional abuse; co-dependency and other relationship issues; anger management, and adjustment to transitions and new stages in life.
I have seen time and time again the transformative impact of therapy on people of all ages. It can restore us to a place of peace and comfort or help us reach new levels of growth and fulfillment. It can help move us beyond the moments we feel stuck, overwhelmed, or alone. Likewise, it can help our children move past their self-doubt, difficulty managing their emotions, or sense of being lost in life. In either case, I want you to know you are not alone, nor were you meant to face the challenges of life without help. I will do everything I can to help you and your family embrace life, overcome challenges, and create possibilities

Relationships can be complicated! All of us need help navigating the rough waters of our relationships. Whether in marriage or parenting, with extended family, or friends and loved ones, we find ourselves hurt by the people we care about the most. And sometimes we hurt them back. That isn't who we really want to be, but we don't know another way. We're stuck in a cycle of anger and distancing. Conflict is inevitable. Thankfully, resolution of conflict is possible. We are created to have meaningful relationships and my aim in therapy is to help you learn how to have them.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
