Beginning therapy is an act of self-compassion, and that requires courage and vulnerability. The journey of self-discovery can be daunting, yet unearthing subconscious drivers can encourage change. If you're feeling bogged down by a sense of being stuck, struggling in your relationships due to heightened reactivity, finding your old coping mechanisms ineffective in the face of intrusive thoughts or hopelessness, or noticing an uptick in substance use or drinking, it's time to take action and transform your life. Together, we'll work to help you create joy and fulfillment by cultivating a life that truly resonates with you.

You were brought up to talk a certain way, live a certain way, look a certain way and love a certain way. But deep down, you don't believe much of that anymore. So, you hide. You don't want to be a disappointment to your friends & family. The constant pushing down of your beliefs, thoughts, and feelings is killing you and getting harder and harder to keep from spilling onto every part of your life. I help millennials dig out from under the mess. To accept & celebrate all aspects of their identities and to improve their relationships both in and out.

I'm a trauma-expert helping sensitive hearts, scapegoats, and empaths make sense of emotions and relationships and feel more embodied & empowered. Do you struggle with overwhelming emotions or interpersonal relationships? You may be feeling scared, enraged, or even hopeless. Strong emotions can be frustrating and disorienting leading you to shut down. This makes it difficult to communicate with others, leaving you feeling even more alone. This pattern perpetuates a vicious cycle of shame & isolation. Maybe you've tried everything to feel better but when it doesn't work, you're left with more despair wondering if you'll ever be okay.

Struggling with life transitions, creative ruts, and relationships are difficult in any situation but especially so if you do not follow the heteronormative path. It can be difficult to open up to someone when you are not certain that they understand Queer and Alternative relationship structures. I use an individualized approach with each client to build a therapeutic relationship based on specific goals. I focus my work around issues regarding LGBTQ+, sexuality, non-binary and transgender, complex relationships, power dynamics, sexual health, BDSM/Kink, and other dynamics.

My approach to therapy is based on the belief that everyone has an innate capacity for healing and growth. As we adapt to life's challenges, however, we sometimes get stuck in long-term patterns of thinking, feeling, behaving, or relating to others that ultimately limit our growth and leave us feeling sad, lonely, overwhelmed, anxious, angry, or fearful. I work collaboratively with clients to help them identify, understand, and change these patterns that keep them feeling stuck so that they can to move towards a life that is more passionate, creative, and fulfilling.

My person-centered and integrative approach stems from the belief that you hold the power to heal from the inside out. However, as layers of stress, trauma and adversity build up, we are often disconnected from ourselves and this intrinsic potential. I aim to support you in reclaiming this power so that you become the expert of your internal world. By doing so, we don’t necessarily escape the inevitable challenges of life but instead find connection to a capacity within ourselves that helps us navigate life’s ups and downs with greater resiliency, meaning and authenticity.

Throughout the pandemic, I have found integrative and creative resources to offer my clients virtually.
First I'd like to say that I'm glad you're here. Prioritizing yourself and your mental health is a vulnerable process. It is my intention to create a space with choice, encouragement, and warmth. The time we have together is set aside to address whatever stressors are most present in your life. I have experience supporting individuals of all ages struggling with PTSD, depression, anxiety, panic disorder, ADHD, and grief. In addition to counseling, I have provided advocacy and trial prep to survivors of sexual assault and other violent crimes. I'm a staunch advocate for women's rights, LGBTQIA+, and other marginalized communities.

Integrative Therapists

What is integrative therapy?

Integrative therapy is a type of therapy that combines ideas and techniques from different therapeutic approaches depending on the needs of the individual client. By merging elements of different treatments, an integrative therapist aims to offer a more flexible approach than those who practice just one type of therapy.

How does integrative therapy work?

Integrative therapy approaches a client’s mental, physical, and emotional health in a holistic way to discover the sources of their unhealthy behavior patterns or other challenges and considers the approach most likely to lead to improvement. Among the techniques an integrative therapist may practice are cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, art or music therapy, psychodynamic therapy, breathwork, family systems therapy, gestalt therapy, and trauma-informed therapy. An integrative therapist regularly evaluates the client’s progress and is prepared to pivot to a different approach if progress stalls.

How long does integrative therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for integrative therapy; people who find they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that spurred them to seek treatment. New patients should understand that it may take some time for a therapist to land on a treatment approach that best meets their needs, but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

How effective is integrative therapy?

There are hundreds of types of talk therapy, and research shows that while they vary in form, goals, and frequency, many if not all can produce similarly successful outcomes. But a single approach does not always deliver the greatest, or speediest, benefit, and so even therapists primarily trained in one model will use tools, language, techniques, or exercises from others to shape an effective treatment plan.
