My collaborative approach starts with building a safe and comfortable space and focusing on individual, cultural, and systems- & trauma-informed perspectives.
It is nice to meet you! I specialize in trauma/complex trauma, eating disorder and body image concerns, relationship concerns, LGBTQ+ and CNM/poly, depression, anxiety, and religious reconstruction. My approach is ideal for long-term health, preferring to do the deeper work that is often needed for holistic, lasting change rather than short fixes! I enjoy utilizing humor, creative approaches to therapy, and aim to balance support and challenge in our work. I also offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Walk and Talk therapy, and yoga therapy.

I work in a relational and trauma-informed way to meet you where you’re at, co-create space for healing, and journey with you toward your goals.
Feeling stressed, anxious, unsure of yourself? Experienced trauma and don't know how to heal and move forward? Struggling with finding relationships that feel good and meaningful? I help individuals and couples/relationships feel seen, safe, and understood while healing and gaining emotional skills for navigating our often isolating, unsafe, and stressful world. We'll compassionately explore your story, identities, values, and ways of surviving and coping to figure out what's working and what you want to change. Being human is messy. You don't have to do this alone. I'd love to connect.

I believe that we all have the power to move from a place of struggle to strength. Life presents us all with challenges and struggles. Yet, in the face of turmoil we tend to withdraw or give in. Strength lies in our ability to look inward, especially in the worst phases of our lives. I specialize in working with trauma, depression, first responders, and victims of trauma. I will support any client in navigating the struggles of the mind; and using my own resiliency beliefs and empathic understanding, we will navigate your strengths together to find your internal ability to overcome.

Trauma or ongoing illnesses create a set of struggles that many may not understand, leading to unwanted advice and shame.
Trauma, chronic illness(es), and eating disorders are intense, unique experiences that can change the way we think, respond, and prepare for day-to-day activities. It can also change the way our body functions on a basic level. My goal is to provide a comfortable environment where everyone can explore traumas, create coping skills, and gain self-confidence. It is within a safe, comforting environment that people have the potential to create meaningful change in their lives.

For 20+ years, I have enjoyed working with a diverse population of all ages from a variety of backgrounds. My clients have shaped how I practice. I work from a cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, trauma-informed foundation. I help clients develop and integrate new patterns into their lives that can bring them out of crisis, enhance their lives, and help them transition into their 'new normal'. I encourage clients to focus on what they can control, to activate in positive ways, and to problem solve. I'm chronically optimistic, and like to integrate humor and fun into sessions.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
