I have experience in treating a wide array of problems; depression, anxiety, domestic violence, anger/aggression, grief, trauma, academic issues, relationship issues, parenting problems, and more.
Life can be difficult at times. It is nice to have someone you can confide in about life struggles you are experiencing. Pain unfortunately is a part of the human experience. There are many reasons we may seek therapy, but regardless of your reason, we could all benefit from a little extra support in life, especially when times are rough. I am dedicated to helping individuals, adolescents, and families.

Symptoms can have meaning and can be carriers of unconscious responses to our environments, relationships, history, emotional content, and one-sidedness. Life experiences including traumatic events can result in disruptions in these connections and loss of internal resources. As a result, when faced with challenges and transitions, we can feel overwhelmed and disoriented. Therapy can help provide a supportive relationship where these experiences can be explored. Recovery of lost or devastated parts of the self can begin.

My hope is that our work together can reignite those things that bring you the most joy and life. Often this process involves working through the impact of loss, pain, or trauma in a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship. I work extensively with artists, musicians, womxn and queer folx, and much of my experience centers around religious trauma and spiritual wounding. My work is informed by humanistic and existential perspectives of psychotherapy, and I often incorporate the use of mindfulness techniques. I am also trained in a number of evidence-based clinical treatments including IFS, ACT, and EMDR.

Hello! My name is Liz, and I'm not your average therapist. I am multi state licensed as a Mental Health Counselor with a Masters degree from Stetson University. I work with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, grief and trauma. When I'm not being a therapist, you can usually find me somewhere outdoors, in a tattoo parlor, binge watching a true crime series or getting coffee. I believe that it's important to take care of yourself both inside and outside of therapy, and I'm here to help you do that.

Relationships can be good, even great, but many times there are struggles, pain, trauma and grief.
It is a privilege to work with clients wherever they are in their personal journey. Every individual and every relationship has a story, but not everyone knows how to give voice to it. Healing comes through having a safe place to tell the story, and a safe person to hear it. Each time I sit with a client, I am humbled by their courage. I hold each story as sacred, as together we purpose to find meaning, healing, and hope.

Good therapy helps promote clarity and progress toward change. I believe that therapy can provide the safety needed for self-exploration and for support in times of stress. And I believe that this safety is created through a trusting therapeutic alliance, which I rely heavily on in my practice. As a clinical social worker, I provide psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults who have a broad range of reasons for seeking therapy - these may include anxiety, depression, family conflict, low self-esteem, relationship struggles, parenting concerns, trauma, and loss.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
