As a warm and attentive therapist, I work hard to listen, understand and guide my patients through the obstacles that prevent them from reaching their life's goals & from feeling more fulfilled. I encourage them to become curious about their thoughts, feelings & behaviors where shame has often kept them stuck. I provide therapy for adolescents & adults with a wide range of problems related to current life changes or longstanding issues. I will also work together with my patients to determine the underlying causes of emotional issues in order to help them cope more effectively with similar problems as they arise in the future.
Painful feelings & difficulties in relationships often lead people to seek therapy. Our work to alleviate the distress most often results in increased self-awareness and heightened self-esteem, an identification of unique strengths, and an overall sense of wellbeing. Therapy can offer new experiences of connection creating greater meaning in life and intimacy in relationships.
My patients tend to find relief in the first weeks of therapy and may continue to work with me for some months to several years. Longer term psychotherapy can help clients break out of self-defeating patterns in order to achieve lasting change and healing.
