I tend to incorporate mindfulness and somatic (body-focused) exercises in therapy, as I have seen the way those practices aid in regulating emotions, fostering a sense of safety in the nervous system, and releasing the stress (and trauma) held in the body.
I offer an open, non-judgemental space where you can speak honestly about your thoughts and experiences while working towards your personal goals. As a queer, trauma-informed sex therapist, I enjoy working together to deconstruct the social scripts, pressures and ‘shoulds’ that often get in the way of our growth, healing and liberation. Some areas that I am especially passionate about working with are anxiety, self-esteem, life transitions, gender identity, sexuality, relationship dynamics, existential questioning, sexual trauma and chronic pain.

My clients heal from the deep wounds of trauma and loss that are at the root of their struggles through Psychodynamic Therapy and Somatic Experiencing.
Healing from trauma, reclaiming power, growing from struggle and learning to work WITH emotions rather than AGAINST them are the goals I strive to support my clients in achieving. EMDR and Somatic Therapy are evidence-based modalities to reestablish safety in the body after complex trauma, relational trauma, sexual trauma, and childhood attachment injuries.
Do you feel stuck in patterns of , anxious thoughts, relationship stress, or disordered eating? Do you feel unsafe in your body due to trauma or chronic illness? I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Somatic Therapy to help clients get unstuck, reconnect to the wisdom of their body, and make positive changes in their lives. I use a trauma-informed, attachment-based approach to help clients identify their unhelpful narratives, challenge them, and take healthy risks. If you are ready to go deeper than traditional talk therapy and crave a healing connection with your mind, body, and spirit, I am here to help!

I use CBT, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, EMDR, Flash, somatic, psychodynamic therapy, EFT, and Internal Family Systems to work with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and the complicated issues that arise in relationships.
What I’ve learned from 30 years of working with individuals and couples is that each therapy is a unique collaboration between client and therapist. People may come to therapy because the external circumstances of their lives are difficult or because they are aware that their inner life is preventing them from living fully, or both. My job is to make use of the many different modalities of therapy that I am trained in and listen carefully for which would most help the client get where they need to go. I always respect that it is the atmosphere of mutual trust and safety that allows these modalities to work.

I use a mix of talk therapy and somatic interventions to help you find deep and lasting change.
I deeply believe in the healing process and an individual's innate capacity for transformation. With over a decade of experience working as a clinical therapist, I believe it's not about working harder but working smarter. Our primary goal is to identify the blocks (namely old patterns/habits, limiting beliefs, patterns of avoidance, etc.) that interfere with your brain and body's natural state of well-being. This can show up as addictions, chronic pain, anxiety, or depression. Whatever you're struggling with right now, your system desires its natural state of equilibrium and will guide us towards healing.

I integrate neuroscientific, somatic, and yogic modalities from a trauma-informed lens.
You may sense your potential for greater wellness, but feel weighed down by the pressure and uncertainty of our times. Perhaps you find yourself repeating patterns that no longer serve you, stuck in a job or relationships that don’t feel meaningful, or haunted by painful emotions and memories. Maybe you just feel something is off. No matter where you are on your journey, I welcome you exactly as you are and I’m honored to support you in meeting your highest potential. Highly-sensitive people, creatives, and disruptors craving healing and expansion often work with me to explore what’s keeping them stuck and create more harmony.

By pairing therapeutic modalities like Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Somatic Experiencing (SE) with coaching I help you get to the root cause of your issues and create an action-oriented plan to overcome them.
Have you ever wondered what it takes to create REAL long-lasting change? In today's information world, many of us know "what" we need to do, but few of us know "how" to implement and stick with it. The clients I work with are motivated to change so they can have a greater impact but have trouble executing consistently. These could be health-related habits like building a new workout routine, work-related tasks like avoiding distraction to increase productivity or catching destructive negative emotions. I'll teach you scientifically proven tactics to implement permanent change, overcome emotional barriers, and hold you accountable.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
