My practice is client centered and I act as the guide and collaborator in their journey. I also am trained in Conflict Resolution/Divorce Mediation as a viable alternative to costly litigated divorce.

I tend to think of therapy as an amazing opportunity to engage in a collaborative process that helps people to develop authentic, enlivened and creative relationships with themselves and others. I am interested in what moves people. What are the moments in their lives when they feel "lined up", fulfilled, attuned? My work focuses on cultivating healing and change in a safe and supportive environment. Compassion, empathy, and forgiveness toward one's self and toward others are important as we face the complexities and pain that life brings us and move toward a life well-lived.

I believe therapy is the process of making one's life more satisfying... whether that's by making minor "tweaks," or major overhauls- the intention is to help you find your unique strengths and gifts, decide what it is you believe needs to change, and empower you to take those steps forward! I believe that the job of a therapist is to support, and encourage, to listen and acknowledge, and to challenge our clients to see themselves in new ways. I approach therapy using a variety of techniques all intended to help clients develop insight into their own feelings and motivations, and to take the hard steps to achieve new growth!

It is natural to seek support when we feel overwhelmed, confused, fearful or depressed. The therapeutic process offers us the opportunity to build on skills that we already have in order to find relief, hope and healing. My work combines practices of narrative therapy (examining the beliefs we have about ourselves), cognitive behavioral work (paying attention to our thoughts), expressive therapy (healing through art and writing) and mindfulness exercises.

I'm a certified EMDR therapist licensed in New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts. EMDR is an approach to treating - not only trauma - but many other issues and negative core beliefs keeping us stuck. I'm interested in trauma, complex trauma, sexual assault / abuse, supporting the queer and trans community as a staunch ally and the slightly eccentric and off-beat. I have no interest in being a cookie cutter, blank slate type therapist. If that’s what you’re looking for, I may not be for you. I’m committed to truth telling, social justice, liberation and anti-oppression of all victims / survivors and oppressed populations.

Hello! I'm Jodie. Although I have specialized in working with children and adolescents, I also work with adults who have experienced trauma or struggle with other stressors. Past roles include senior leadership positions for nonprofits in the state of Massachusetts. This included working closely with DCF, DMH, and DJJ in order to support children and families. One single approach is not suitable for everyone, so I take an integrative approach to therapy. I am trained in Trauma-Focused CBT, ACT, Forensic Social Work, and Brief Therapy. I am also a master's Level Expert for CPCS. Public defenders can hire me as a consultant on cases.

Hello! If you are reading this and looking for help you are right where you need to be :) I like to think of myself as an "UNshrink" . I believe in helping to de-pathologize you and whatever it is that you are struggling w, and helping you to experience your self, situation, and LIFE in a whole new way. I'm usually a good fit for ppl that aren't into traditional "therapy" for whatever reason: anxiety, skepticism, bad or unsuccessful past experiences, if you think you, your family, everything is/are beyond hope, or if you are interested in something completely "outside the box", bc that is me.

I have 2-3 openings to include mornings, evenings and weekends. Some of us struggle to live day to day and have stopped dreaming. Why is dreaming left to childhood? If you are searching for peace or to heal an invisible scar, you do not need to suffer or problem solve alone. I am a licensed clinical social worker whose passion for the past 30 years has been creating a safe space for the human experience that we all share. It has been my understanding that you may already have what you need and I have the privilege to be alongside you on that journey. Risks are scary but this may be a good one to take. I hope you reach out!

I find that a client is best served when they are listened to, validated, but also challenged to make positive change. That is why I take a cognitive behavioral approach to the counseling I do. Whether the client is a child or adult we all have the ability to learn from the past and make different choices for the future.

Becoming integrated and feeling whole is a process. The beauty is we are all capable of healing. Traumatic events in our lives via developmental stressors or one-time occurrences can greatly impact us and how we cope in the world. The coping skills early on were our best survival skills but may not work for us now. Time in counseling, reflection and motivation can help us move forward. Healing is possible and I believe this wholeheartedly.

Sexual Abuse Therapists
How do therapists treat sexual abuse?
A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.
Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?
Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.
How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?
Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.
Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?
As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
