I work with individuals, couples, and families to help identify and solve personal life challenges that arise individually, family related, and couple relationship difficulties. I strive to create a therapeutic environment that is comfortable, non-judgmental and empathetic. I believe that you are the expert in your life and it is my job to assist you with identifying and applying solutions to the obstacles that you are seeking help for. After establishing a therapeutic partnership, together, we will create a self-care plan that will assist you between sessions. While I have experience working in a dual-diagnosis treatment center for those struggling with substance abuse, I also have experience working with clients living with the effects of trauma, mood disorders like anxiety and depression, self-harm and suicide ideation, OCD tendencies and psychosis. In the counseling office I am supportive, non-judgmental and empathetic while maintaining a direct and solution-oriented approach to help you achieve your goals. I'm LGBTQ+ affirming and welcome all gender identities, sexualities, and presentations into my office.

I work with individuals, couples and families of all ages with a wide range of mental health issues. These include but are not limited to Alcohol and Drug related issues, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Dual Diagnosis and relationship related issues. My training started at The University of Kentucky studying Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy. I received my Master of Social Work from the University of Kentucky in 2005. I have a passion for what I do and cannot imagine doing anything else.

Although it is scary to acknowledge our pain and reach out for help, doing so is also a sign of strength and courage. I believe people do the best they can with what they have. As children we create beliefs about ourselves and the world around us that are a result of our interactions with our environment, our heredity and, our relationships with others. Everyday we reinforce those beliefs by our assumptions and our interpretation of events, even though those beliefs may no longer be accurate, may cause us pain, and may negatively impact our ability to function at optimum potential. I welcome and have worked with individuals from a variety of different backgrounds, including clients from other countries and cultures, Black clients and other people of color and LGBTQ+ clients.

I work with families, adolescents, and children ages 3 and up. I am in the process of becoming certified in Child-centered Play Therapy, Relationship Enhancement Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Practices. I am not limited to these models and will use what is most beneficial to my clients. My ideal client(s) will have some idea of what they hope to get out of therapy and be open to sharing their experiences with me so that I can understand their experiences and help them reach their treatment goals.
