When working with clients, I draw from Trauma-Focused, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused, Family Systems, and Strength Based therapeutic approaches.

I have over 20 years of social work experience. Throughout the years I have gained expertise in working with older adults, hospice, grief, child welfare, long-term care, acute care, individual counseling, couple’s counseling and group counseling services. I enjoy working with teens, adults, and couples, and I have been a licensed therapist in the Black Hills for the last 3 1/2 years.

I have worked with all ages, as well as individuals, couples and families with a variety of challenges. I have specialty training in family therapy, helping families dealing with challenging behaviors and communication. I am trauma focused, cognitive behavioral therapy trained. I am also EMDR trained. I have facilitated group therapy for parenting and will be doing more groups on other issues. I am solution focused and offer unconditional, positive regard for all. This is an LGBTQ+ safe space.

Bryan Satterwhite and Nora Boesem bring expertise in working with children and adolescents with prenatal alcohol/drug exposure, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Autism, and attachment traumas. They bring years of experience and their own personal journeys with children’s mental health. They can help you to navigate some of the hardest moments as a family. Offering testing for FASD, autism, and functional developmental assessments. We provide individual therapy for all ages including adults who are experiencing suicidality and trauma.

The cornerstone of successful therapy is the relationship developed between client and therapist. I offer a non-judgmental environment in which you will be heard and respected. I tailor my approach to the unique needs and personality of each client. Together we will identify and develop your specific goals and choose which therapeutic approach will be the most comfortable and effective.

I have provided mental health services for over 9+ years to adults, couples, and 16+ who are struggling with mental health issues. I guide people in their healing of trauma including complex trauma, dissociative issues, depression, anxiety, grief, psychotic spectrum, and personality disorders. I will create a safe space of honesty and empathy. I will guide you to strengthen self-trust and empower yourself to solve issues within all your relationships, inside and outside of therapy. I believe that our minds and bodies are connected through thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

Now accepting new clients. We are unhappy in our lives today because we have wounds from the past that have been left unhealed. These wounds generate from our basic needs not being met in childhood, abuse, loss of any kind (death of a loved one/friend, job, house, security, relationship, etc.), an unexpected accident, or any other traumas life may throw at you. These unhealed wounds are “jabbing” at you today through maladaptive and numbing behaviors, physical reactions, and emotional reactions.

Stephanie is a trauma and AASECT-certified sex therapist who works primarily with teens and adults. They have been formally trained in TF-CBT, sex therapy and expressive art therapy. They are passionate about survivors of sexual assault reclaiming their passion and sexuality, as well as teens finding their voice. She is a board member of TPAN and prides herself on being a fierce advocate for the LGBTQIA2S+ community. They have been asked to speak all over the US as well as internationally on many different issues.

My ideal client is exploring change and considering what it may look like. Whether that is change in their relationships, lifestyle, career, family life, social life, etc... They recognize that a change needs to happen. Their goal is to decrease stress from the current behavior that continues to go on and they desire to find a different way to deal with issues that come up in life. They know what needs to change and the thought of doing something different is scary and overwhelming.

Even though the therapy process can sometimes be painful, I like to incorporate a little dash of the "laughter is the best medicine" approach at times. Tears and laughter both have healing qualities. And what if you don't like to talk? We can use additional approaches such as expressive art, play, or journaling to reach your counseling goals.
