I believe it is my calling to help my clients get to a better place and live happier, more fulfilled lives. I specialize in attachment theory and use a psychoanalytic approach which simply means that I will listen to your story from childhood up through adulthood to get an understanding of what has happened over your life that may be manifesting today and causing challenges for you. Then we do the work to heal the parts that maybe aren't so whole right now.

I work with survivors of childhood abuse, those with PTSD, and addictions. Abuse and trauma leaves a lasting impact on your body and can create symptoms like anxiety, depression, substance abuse, troubled relationships, and insomnia. Is it difficult to function in day-to-day life or do you feel like you just can't get it together? You may be feeling lost, hopeless, stuck, and afraid. Therapy can provide a time to be understood and heard in a safe, confidential place. We all have strengths and the answers inside of us, but sometimes we need help peeling back the layers. I understand because I am a survivor of trauma too.

I have many years experience working with adults and children suffering from depression, anxiety, OCD, anger issues, trauma, and abuse. I have also worked in the field of drug and alcohol addiction. After my graduate studies, my primary focus and training was working with children suffering from ADHD, ODD, depression, and anxiety. I used behavioral management coupled with parenting strategies to improve the overall parent/child relationship. I gained incredible knowledge and insight regarding chronic pain as well as grief and loss while working with the elderly population through home health care and hospice.

I am South Carolina Licensed Independent Social Worker- Clinical Practice. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology and my Masters Degree in Social Work. Since 1999, I have dedicated my entire professional career to working with the forensic population (victims; non-offending parents; sex offenders; violent offenders). This has been accomplished in private practice, correctional institutions, and the agency setting. I conduct individual and group therapy sessions. I specialize in seeing teens and aduts.

I enjoy working with those that are "misunderstood". This is generally those with ADHD and Autism or even teens who are in the LGBTQ+ community or going through a major life change (i.e turning 18, going to college). It could even be compounded by trauma. My main goal through therapy is to work towards exploring how life experiences may have contributed to your perception of self. The ultimate goal for my clients is acceptance. Whether that's accepting themselves, their past, or what they can/cannot control.

I offer weeknight and weekend appointments. I believe therapy is a safe space everyone can explore skills that are beneficial in life. I am confident I can assist you on your life journey. I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families who have experienced trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, domestic violence, child abuse, child neglect, sexual abuse, personality disorders, family difficulties, and substance use. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who provide virtual and in-person therapy for people who live in the state of South Carolina. Most of my clients enjoy virtual because of the flexibility it offers. I do offer in-person appointments for clients if that is your preference. Both options are effective. I believe that therapy is a collective journey in which my goal is to provide you with the tools to gain insight and self-awareness that foster personal growth and positive change in your life. I have worked in the human services field for over 25 years with children and adults of diverse backgrounds with a wide range of concerns.
