You feel like a bad mom and you’re worried that the fact that you’re reading this means that you’re failing. The anxiety is next level. You’re living in your head 24/7. You’re distracted and feel disconnected from your life. Unwanted thoughts feel like they’re spinning out of control and you’re wondering if you’re going crazy. Intense emotions feel like they are spilling out of you despite your best efforts to keep them stuffed inside. You may have already self-diagnosed yourself with PPA or PPD. You need something to change. You're craving stability. You want to feel like yourself again and get the hang of this whole mom - thing.

I believe we all find ourselves stuck at different times of our lives. In close relationships where we hope to feel accepted and safe, many of us find ourselves feeling hurt and alone. Given our brains natural movement towards protection, we can easily become guarded and show less and less of our true self to the person we care about. As a result, relationships can become increasingly stuck in destructive communication patterns. Within the context of a safe therapeutic relationship, we can understand emotional and relational patterns that keep stuck.

I got into therapy so I could help people end the cycles detracting from their fullest potential in life. So many of us plug through the day with nasty negative thoughts about ourselves, leaving us drained of energy and an incapacity to be mindful and present with each other. Using EMDR, mindfulness, and a heavy dose of humanity and empathy, I help my clients obtain the changes they seek in order to be the best versions of themselves. My style is thoughtful, witty, intentional, and comfortable and I'm always happy to help those who are ready to help themselves grow!

NOT accepting clients. Will evaluate in Oct. You’re juggling everything. You’re overwhelmed. You’re a working professional. You're a stay at home parent. Your kids are struggling at home and school. You’re at the end of your rope. You're worried about your children’s negative behaviors. You’re worried for your middle schooler or high schooler but you have no idea how to talk to them about your concerns. You and your partner are struggling to connect, fighting, worried that maybe things would be better if you separated. You feel that you have nowhere to turn. You're afraid to ask for help.

You are so overwhelmed right now that it feels like you don’t even have time to breathe. The to do lists are endless and the weight of the world is on your shoulders. When you do get a moment to relax, your mind won’t stop to give you even 5 seconds of peace. It feels like you are floating through life incapable of finding solid ground. Everything feels harder than it should, including your closest relationships. Hurts from the past seem to keep popping up even though they happened so long ago and you’ve moved on right? It might seem like you’re alone in trying to figure all of this out, but I see you and I get it.

You want to help and support your child. You've read all the parenting articles and parenting blogs but feel stuck. Perhaps your child has gone through an unspeakable trauma and you also feel lost trying to navigate life. Or maybe you are at your breaking point with your child's behavior and you think, "What am I doing wrong? Something has to change, but how?" PERHAPS you yourself need support as you manage to be the caregiver to everyone but yourself. You are starting to realize your past is impacting your present. You carry with you baggage that you know you should deal with, but instead stuff it inside hoping it will close.

How can I find a therapist in Greenville?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
