Feeling stuck? Burned out? Like your tank is running on empty? In a world that glorifies perfectionism and masks vulnerability, it’s easy to feel unseen, misunderstood, and overwhelmed. Outwardly, you’ve got it together, but inside, you’re wrestling with a sense of inadequacy. I'm so glad you found yourself here, taking the brave step to seek help. Life should be a thrilling journey of self-discovery, not a battle for approval. Whether it’s body image struggles, work or academic pressure, or navigating draining relationships, the weight of comparison can be suffocating.

For a moment, consider life as a roller coaster. When you are waiting in line, life may move slowly or you may feel stuck. Other times, you may be thrown for a scary loop and have difficulty hanging on or managing the various twists and curves. I am committed to joining you for the ride, providing a safe and nurturing environment, assisting you as you set and reach goals, and being your biggest cheerleader as you create meaningful change and positive health. I also believe in teaching and mentoring, and therefore have 2 counselors in training that are available to help too with a significant sliding fee scale rate.

Do you sometimes wish you could just turn off your thoughts for a while? Are you preoccupied by worry, or afraid to do things you see others around you doing with ease? If so, you're in good company, although most of us hide these burdens because we think they're trivial or even embarrassing. The truth is they're debilitating, and you can take steps to feel so much better.

Welcome! I am so glad you have gathered the courage to begin YOUR healing journey. We all go through seasons that feel heavier and anxiety-ridden and it takes bravery to seek out help from a professional. My role as a counselor is to come alongside you and figure out ways we can obtain the quality of life you deserve. My experience includes working with populations such as adolescents, adults, couples, and veterans! More specifically, I have experience with clients who present with anxiety and depression as well as history with trauma. Additionally, I really enjoy working with couples using the Gottman Method.

I believe every person has the capacity to heal when they feel seen, safe, and supported. No matter if you're healing from trauma, wrestling with sexual shame, feeling stuck in your relationships, or going through a big change, you deserve support in a space where you don’t have to hold it all alone.

My goal as a therapist/counselor is to help you clarify ways that your life can be more fulfilling and content. It is often difficult for us to sort out solutions to issues that on the surface seem simple, but in real life can be crippling, disorienting and sources of conflict.

Southern Grace is a place to feel not only heard but known & understood. It's of utmost importance to me, that all who enter my office feel & know that during our time together especially during session(s), they are my world. Therapy is about having a desire for change; what we’ve done, been through, or where we come from is just a piece of our life’s story, it doesn’t have to be our whole story. I understand that moving through our discomfort can at times, feel unbearable and impossible. With self-compassion and patience, I believe all wounds can be healed. If you’ll let me, I would love to embark on the healing journey with you.

I am a Grief Counselor. This is my niche and specialty as a psychotherapist. I am best suited to work with clients who need professional support and educational resources to help facilitate the grief process. This is a time of upheaval and change - as we struggle to cope with the death of a loved one. The death may be sudden and unexpected or it may result from a chronic/long-term illness. I use an integrative therapy approach that is personalized to meet the unique needs of each individual.

Email is the best means of communication (please email if you do not get me by phone). There are times when our past can creep up into our present and take charge. Doing the best we can with the skills we have, we attempt to triumph over pain, heartache, trauma, fears, etc. However, there are times when we feel broken no matter how hard we try to put the pieces back together. Although we cannot change the past, we can put the pieces back together and still be beautiful; different yet beautiful. I like to think of therapy like the art of kintsugi, putting our broken pieces back together with a gold bond.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Greenville?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
