Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my profile! Beginning therapy can be an exciting and difficult process. I am a client-centered Independent Clinical Social Worker committed to helping individuals and couples grow in authentic ways by gently guiding and warmly challenging them. I will truly listen and enjoy finding new ways to help connect and communicate. I often ask questions as a way to gain understanding and direction. I will be actively engaged in the present while being mindful of the struggles that caused you to begin therapy.

With twenty-five plus years of experience, I strive to create a therapeutic environment in which my clients can understand the causes of the problems they are experiencing and explore options for dealing with them. I believe each person has the right to determine their own journey in life and that people can make the decisions that are best for them when they are conscious of all the dynamics involved. Together, we will work to understand and consider the influences of family, social, and cultural contexts.

I am passionate about helping others to reconnect to their essential nature, and to live more fully from a place of inner truth. I view my job as helping you to navigate back to your own Truest self and inner guidance system. I draw from the foundations of Hakomi, somatic awareness, attachment work, and mindfulness based approaches to support you on your journey. I hold a compassionate container where all of the emotions are honored and welcomed, and where we can lean into what is causing distress to mine for inner wisdom. We will use creativity to find new ways of navigating with self and all those we come into contact with.

I continuously strive to give the most individualized care and support that I can, to best meet the needs of each client. In order to do so, I get to know my clients so that I can better understand them, their needs, their weaknesses and most importantly their strengths. In doing so, I am able to more effectively work with them to help them gain a better understanding of themselves and the reasons driving their mal-adaptive behaviors and choices. With a better understanding of oneself and one's actions, the steps towards making desired positive changes become more clear and attainable.

Over twenty years as an ordained minister and equestrian I noticed how horses were helping me, so I developed Integrative Equine Therapy. In a non-clinical environment, a horse and IET Therapist create a safe space. We guide, encourage and support you in removing blocks, building new neural pathways from the trauma center to the conscious part of your brain, making it possible to respond rather than react to triggers. We call this "shifting perspective." With IET, you can find clarity of purpose, meaning and joy. Brown University's independent data on our therapeutic approach shows the success of IET. We work with all ages.

While a large portion of my experience has been with adolescents, I also have a strong background working with adults and couples. I am comfortable working with many issues and believe one of my strengths is the ability to offer an accepting atmosphere.

My ideal client is a family or couple in the midst of a situational crisis. They may need help navigating changes such as: a member with special needs, adolescent years, an affair, remarriage/stepfamily issues, illness and death. I strongly believe many people have the capacity to manage life's challenges, however they may need to learn more skillful communication of their needs and desires. It has been my privilege to help restore innate strengths as well as to nurture untapped abilities to overcome stresses and symptoms of depression, anxiety and confusion associated with these life changes.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 10 years of experience as a psychotherapist. I received my degree from The California School of Professional Psychology. I also earned a Masters degree in Health Psychology. I have worked with a wide variety of issues including addiction, life coaching, pervasive mental illness, chronic pain, family issues, mood disorders, grief, life transitions and elder issues. I have worked with adolescents, adults and the elderly.
